- 821 SE US Hwy 19 - Starting at American Pro Diving Center in Crystal River, snorkelers and divers check-in and try on gear. After a brief orientation, follow the guide through a neighboring small town to a beautiful wooded river just north of the shop. Loading the gear at the docks is made easy and the boat ride view is unbelievable. Traveling up the river you may see several types of fish, turtles and even the occasional otter. Learning history about the Rainbow River from your captain adds interest to the boat ride. Once in the water the boat drifts with the group so boat riders can also observe all that Rainbow River has to offer. Back on board the boat there is a short cruise back to the docks to unload the gear and swap dive stories.

After your morning encounter with manatees, unwind with an afternoon drift on Rainbow River, a place perfect for snorkeling or scuba diving. With its crystal clear springs and over 200 feet of visibility, there’s no other place in Florida quite like Rainbow River. Witness a variety of fish, turtles and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Unearth fossils emerging from the numerous springs scattered along the riverbed. At the drift’s conclusion, you’ll discover a quaint cavern, teeming with Sun fish. This snorkeling or diving experience is something the whole family can enjoy.

Exceptional dive shop & people / Spectacular dive - The dive was amazing; the people at American Pro Diving Center are exceptional: Divemaster Rodney, Captain Ryan, smiling Abby in the shop, & co-owner Paul... each was friendly, helpful, and professional. I happily shared my dive with a mother & daughter who joined for a Discover Scuba... they were natural and enthusiastic first-time scuba divers.
On a remarkably cold 45F & overcast day, the water was a warm 72F & crystal clear - admittedly a welcome improvement for this Pennsylvania quarry diver. After Rodney completed new diver skills training with the ladies in a small shallow cove, we descended then drifted downriver for more than an hour. We saw fields of waving sea grass, sand boils, schools of gar, and the coolest for me: cormorants swimming above and below the surface.
At the end of our dive, Captain Ryan greeted us on the boat with towels and steaming cups of hot chocolate.
All rental gear and vehicles were in excellent condition.
I can recommend American Pro without hesitation. I'll be back for sure... for other excursions and to repeat the Rainbow River dive with buddies.

Wonderful Dive and Guides - My friend and I had a great time. The rainbow river dive was perfect, peaceful and beautiful. Orville was such a great guide. He showed us all the best spots during the dive. Aiden, the captain was also very helpful with making sure we got the most out of our experience by pointing out wild life and being at our side in case we needed him.
Definitely would recommend!

Lovely Dive in Rainbow River - The trip over with American Pro was comfortable and convenient. Their boat was very nice, and our guide and boat captain were friendly and entertaining.

Rainbow River drift dive - My hubby took the open water certification course with Instructor Jim at American Pro dive center over the weekend & we did the Rainbow River drift dive together on Monday afternoon with Captain Dirty Mike & Instructor/Captain Rodney. Wow! What an amazing time we had! We just can’t recommend American Pro enough…they are so welcoming & have a really great owner Paul & the best staff around. We will definitely be back & have been recommending a trip to this beautiful town & dive center to all our friends back in PA. My hubby Josh had an amazing experience & is already talking about working toward his advanced open water certification. Thanks so much for being so amazing!

Excellent drift dive - Captain Aiden and Dive Master Austin provided a brilliant outing for me scuba diving and my husband as a passenger on the boat. Their knowledge of the local wildlife both in and out of the water really added to the enjoyment of the trip.

Great night dive with Austin and Aidan! - My 16-year-old son and I had a great experience on a night dive of the Rainbow River. Our diver master was Austin, and our captain was Aidan, and they were both excellent. They were both super friendly and welcoming but also professional, and we felt confident they would make sure we had a good experience but did so safely.
The night dive itself was very cool. We saw small snapping turtles, gar, and plenty of other fish. But just the process of diving at night in a slowly drifting river was a very unique experience. The river/spring water is surprisingly clear, so the visibility was great. Over all, my son and I are both glad we did it, and very pleased that Austin and Aidan were our guides! Highly recommended!

Amazing experience! - My wife and I needed to do referral dives to finish our certification. We got Rodney Pippenger as our instructor. My wife had anxiety due to some previous bad experiences with water and on a discovery dive in the Keys. Rodney was simply AMAZING!! He was extremely encouraging, worked to take the stress out of the situation, and was also an expert on diving. We ended up with our certifications! Rodney helped my wife find a way through her fear, and she finished her last dive of the day pointing out fish and other cool things in the river. I HIGHLY recommend Rodney and the entire crew at American Pro Diving Center. We got to meet several of the instructors on our dive. They were all fantastic - friendly and encouraging. We'll be back to dive with this team again as they are top-notch!!

Absolutely Enjoyed - Had an amazing time!! Did three dives (Blue Grotto, Devil's Den, and Rainbow River) and Rainbow was my favorite- will definitely be coming back. Captain Austin was great and Dive Master Orville is the best :)
