Upon arriving at Salty Siren Tours, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere. The check-in process was smooth, and we were quickly fitted with high-quality wetsuits. The staff made sure we were comfortable and ready for the adventure ahead. Captain Kim and her husband Ed were our guides for the day, and their passion for manatees was evident from the start. The Manatee Whisperer

After a thorough briefing on how to interact with the manatees, we were transported to the departure location in a comfortable van. The boat ride was a delight, with plush leather seating and a warm atmosphere that kept the January chill at bay. Ed had even prepared hot chocolate for us to enjoy after our swim, a thoughtful touch that added to the overall experience.

Once in the water, we were encouraged to practice passive observation, allowing the manatees to approach us on their own terms. Kim, affectionately known as the “Manatee Whisperer,” had a magical way of communicating with the manatees. One of the standout features of the tour was the small group size. With only six participants, we were able to enjoy a more intimate and personal interaction with the manatees. This made the experience all the more special, as we didn’t have to jostle for space or compete for the manatees’ attention.
