Additional Information

A private historical tour including a visit to the Soviet Bunker.
On this tour you’ll learn everything about history of Latvians and their ancestors. We’ll do this in chronological order: first Āraiši Lake Castle - an authentic reconstruction of a prehistoric fortified settlement. Then we move on to Cēsis Castle (1214), main base of Teutonic Knights in this region. Next is Līgatne, where you’ll learn about industrial revolution in Russian Empire. After that - to Secret Soviet Bunker for a private visit - only your party and the guide, so you can ask all the questions you might have. And that’s all the major periods of Latvian history covered! Finally we continue to Sigulda, catch some picturesque viewpoints and maybe do a little hiking or visit a cave if you’re still not tired :)
All the tickets and a traditional Latvian meal for lunch are included.
The tour is customisable, so if you want to drop or add something, just let us know.

Honest History is the Best! - My husband and I have had many excellent private and small-group tour guides in our travels, but Harijs was the absolute best: knowledgeable, considerate, interesting, interested, personable, genuine, and candid. I learned so much about Latvia in the 12 hours that we spent with him! I had thought "Honest History" an odd (albeit intriguing) name for a tour company, but now see what it means: Harijs can tie together national and global history with personal and family stories that gave me a deep appreciation for Latvia's landscape and people, and probably a better understanding of history & humans.

Great trip in Latvia! - My wife and I enjoyed what turned out to be a private tour. Guides are especially important in tours like that, where it's just you and them, and we got along great with Harijs! He had tons of stories about Latvia and was willing to chat with us about anything Latvia-related, which we appreciated in light of the distressing current events. This being our first time in Latvia, we really felt as if we learned a lot about the country and its history and people. The organization of the tour is particularly well-suited for that; it was interesting to structure things so that we start further back in time and then go through the different eras. As we were visiting in March, some of the settings were less spectacular than they might have been in pretty much any other season (with more color), but we enjoyed sights like the castle in Cēsis. Because it was March during a pandemic and time of geopolitical tensions, we had most of the sites to ourselves too. The lunch was great, and we also stopped for a snack earlier in the tour. Overall, even for a private tour Harijs was very accommodating! We were even able to stop by a local grocery store to get some Latvian products on the way to the airport (where we went straight form the tour). Would recommend the tour and Latvia!

EXCELLENT SERVICE - We booked for a private for all day. Some visits have to be changed due to covid restrictions. Our guide has contacted us to propose us different alternatives. Due to very cold weather minus -20 dg his car broke down at the last moment but our guide managed to rent one for our tour.He has very well anticipated. Our tour was fantastic. Our guide very cultivate and erudite give us a lot information above his country. He has adapted the trip to our wishes. We wanted to walk in the beautiful nature covered with lot of snow.; Our guide has also prepared a surprise: we crossed a icy river on a wooden ferry.Magic;;; He choosed also a nice backery to taste local pastries and good restaurant ( despite most were closed). We advise you to choose this private tour with suer guide very human and interesting who love his job. Don t hesitate and book now...
