- Laguna La Toreadora - Following the 3 Cruces visit, a 10-minute drive will take you to the central part of Cajas Park, situated at approximately 3,960 meters above sea level. Here, you will embark on a 3-hour or longer hike in the Toreadora area, depending on the group’s pace. The trek offers the chance to admire the breathtaking scenery, including the Polylepis Forest, numerous lakes, and the paramo ecosystem, also known as Andean moorland. Your guide will provide insights into the area’s flora and fauna. Cajas Park is a fantastic spot for nature photography, and with some luck, you might even spot llamas.
- El Cajas National Park - LUNCH TIME: Ecuadorian cuisine is diverse and delicious. On this tour, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delightful soup and a main course. For vegetarian guests, there is an excellent option available.
- Llaviuco - After lunch, a 20-minute drive will take you to the Llaviuco valley for a brief complementary visit. Located in the lower part of Cajas National Park at around 3,200 meters above sea level, this area offers a different landscape with numerous native trees that are part of the Andean mountain forest. Your guide will explain some medicinal and notable plants of this ecosystem, and you can also see the origin of the Tomebamba River, considered the most important river in the city of Cuenca.
- Cuenca - After exploring the Llaviuco valley, the guide will return you to the city of Cuenca and drop you off at your hotel. The return journey takes approximately one hour.
