Beautiful adventure. Worth to have a private guide. - Beautiful little adventure to get to the waterfall. Gorgeous. Really worth to have a private tour because to get to the waterfall, the path allows only on person at a time. With a group you have to wait in line so everyone gets his turn one by one. You save easily one hour. Earlier you go, less crowds, much better!

What a great hike! - What a great hike! Definitely not for the out of shape. But so cool! Lots of roots and rocks to step over so best to wearing hiking boots or good sneakers. Water shoes just aren't the best for hiking. You do get wet and go in a lot of water. But our hiting shoes/sneakers will dry eventually. Wear them! Last part getting to the waterfall is a challenge but totally worth it! And the guides will help you. Do this hike!

Breathtaking Views - Our guide Jose was knowledgeable and went out of his way to ensure we could see the waterfall, even though it was very crowded. The front desk staff was also very helpful in resolving our canceled reservation. Now with the rainy season, accessing the waterfall is challenging due to strong currents, but guides are there to assist. We were told it becomes easier by late January in the dry season.

Great hike and swim - Amazing hike and swimming. It was a nice hike. The best part was crossing the rivers and getting to the pools by La Leona waterfall. The river was too high for us to cross over to the final part of the hike yet it was still a worthwhile trip. The guides were very informative and helped us cross the rivers. Without them we would not have made it. Must wear sneakers or hiking shoes and they will get soaking wet as you will swim with them. Enjoyed it very much.

Fantastic guide Eli made this a fantastic experience - We’ve been travelling all over Costa rica and this was our highlight and all due to our guide Eli. I hope they know what a star they have in him and give him everything he wants because he’s a natural born guide. He was patient with our eight year old son, was very knowledgeable about plants, animals and the nature around us and told us a lot of interesting facts. On top of that he made great pictures and was overall a wonderful guide. I wish every guide was like that.

Amazing adventure - Had a great time with Jonathan on the private tour. The experience was amazing. The water was beautiful and we saw monkeys (Howler and Capuchins) and toucans. Highly recommend this company.

Exhilarating day!! - Our guide, Jose, was incredible; nice, helpful, showed us interesting vegetation, and made the day really great. The downside was that we had to wait for close to two hours to go from the rope line to the waterfall because of long lineups due to very strong currents, slowing everything down. In these conditions, this tour is appropriate for fit, strong, healthy people.

Know before you go. Beautiful country and people. - Just got back from 5 day trip to Playa Potrero and one day a visit to La Leona Waterfalls. Beautiful country and wonderful experience with all of the people of Costa Rica. The one thing that was not great was the experience at La Leona. The hike to the waterfalls was exceptionally slippery as conditions were very muddy and wet. I fell at least 4 times. Several other members of our group also fell. Apparently it had been raining the days before we arrived which caused conditions to be less than safe. Added to the fact that the amount of water coming off of the waterfalls and through the canyon chute was exceptionally intense. Not everyone could negotiate the line to get to the waterfall (I did). This presented some dangerous conditions. The conditions of the ground and the intensity of the waterfall should have been disclosed by the tour guides and owners; at least to allow the visitors decide whether to commit to the trip. By the time you are into the first 20 minutes of the hike it is really too late to change your mind. Honestly feel it’s a serious accident waiting to happen. There should be more information available prior to embarking on the hike.
