Amazing day! - Amazing experience! We absolutely loved it. We saw bubbling mud pots, spider monkeys, snakes, lizards and gorgeous birds. The waterfall was spectacular. Thoroughly enjoyed the hot springs. Highly recommend.

So much fun!! - What a fun experience. Juan Carlos was an excellent guide. Showed lots of passion and love for the history of the country and the wilderness. Kind of lost track of time so the hot springs and lunch were a little rushed other than that it was a lot of fun!!

An INCREDIBLE adventure with Colorado Adventure Tours Volcan Rincon de La Vieja! - I am big researcher when booking vacation and tours. I found Colorado Adventure Tours Volcan Rincon de La Vieja when looking for a tour to do in the Rincon de La Vieja area. I saw that people raved about them and had an amazing time on their tours so I decided to book with them. I contacted them through the WhatsApp and spoke with Bernie. He answered all my questions and concerns and made it easy to book with him. We booked the La Leona waterfall hike, river tubing and lunch combo tour with him. He included roundtrip transportation for us from our resort which was great. A lot of tour companies in Costa Rica will quote you with no transportation included then when you request transportation the price goes way up. Bernie included it all for us upfront which was great! Bernie was even so kind and flexible as we had to change our tour date due to my boyfriend getting sick the night before.
The day of our tour our guide, Daniel and our driver, Angel picked us up from our resort’s front lobby. Daniel our guide stayed with us all day from pickup to drop off and was FANTASTIC! On the way to the river he told us the local history of Rincon de La Vieja and pointed out interesting sights and facts about Costa Rica. Just before reaching the company’s office we stopped and Daniel showed us a spot where there were ancient hieroglyphs. It was so cool! We then proceeded to meet Bernie at their office and get setup for our adventure. Bernie walked us through the day and what to expect. Daniel and Angel then took us a mile down the road where we would start our hike to La Leona waterfall. The hike was the best and prettiest hike I have EVER taken. Daniel was amazing and he guided us across the river several times, up rocks and through the canyon all while stopping along the way to show us amazing plants, animals and history of the area. I learned so much from him about the forest, he was like a book of knowledge of the forest. He helped us through traversing the rivers, the ladders and the canyons. The hike was about 1.5 miles long each way and took us some time to hike it but it was literally the most AMAZING hike and worth it. When we reached La Leona it was INCREDIBLE! Words and pictures cannot do it justice. I could have stayed there all day and admired the waterfall. After our hike back we were greeted again by Bernie with some delicious fruit juice to hydrate and re energize. We then proceeded with Daniel, Angel and our additional tubing guide, Francis to the river for some white water river tubing. It was so much FUN and a great adrenaline rush! Each guide held onto us as we went down the rapids and made sure we went down safely. The river was beautiful and it was a great way to experience it! For those who are nervous about doing full on white water rafting in the area this is a great alternative. It was about a 3 mile journey down the river which took about 45 minutes to an hour. After tubing we were taken to a local restaurant, Ranchito Don Luis and had a traditional Costa Rican lunch, Consada which consists of your choice of protein, white rice, black beans, salad and plantains. It was DELICIOUS! Daniel and Angel then drove us back to our resort stopping on the way to allow me to purchase some local Costa Rican coffee, chocolate and Chicharrones. The Chicharrones were really good.
If you are looking to do a tour in the Rincon de La Vieja area I definitely recommend using Colorado Adventure Tours Volcan Rincon de La Vieja! They are AMAZING and you will get the BEST experience! You will feel as if they created the tour just for you! We will definitely be booking with Colorado Adventure Tours Volcan Rincon de La Vieja again when we return to Costa Rica.

Could’ve been the best - I just want to say that Juan Carlos is great. He is very knowledgeable and super sweet. We loved the volcano tour but wouldn’t do it again. By the time we finished volcano tour, we were told we had 30 mins to swim the waterfall. Perfect. I timed it. It was a blast. But when we got to the hot springs to check in, it was 2:30. The guy informed us that the lunch place closed at 3pm. Juan Carlos said we had 15 mins to be back to our car to head back to the starting point. The hot springs is a little hike. By the time we ran there, we had 4 mins to hop in hot springs, do mud mask and rinse off. Then had to run back to car and get to lunch. The people at restaurant were irritated and showed it. It states that this was the best and most relaxing part of the trip, and it could’ve been. Instead it was very stressful and rushed and we had zero time to enjoy the best part. We mentioned it to the guy running the shop when we got back and he just seemed to laugh it off. Rude bc this tour was not cheap. Had I known we had a time crunch, I would’ve played guide and kept us moving. Truly devastating to say the least.
