Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake - Sorococcha
Cusco - Guests will be picked up at 4:30 am from their hotel lobby and driven for 3 hours in a private van to Soraypampa, the trailhead. The journey through the winding roads of the Andes offers views of the villages of Iscuchaca and Limatambo, the surrounding valleys, and the renowned snowcapped Salkantay Mountain. Upon reaching Soraypampa, breakfast is served with stunning views of the Humantay (5,900m / 19,356ft) and Salkantay (6,217m / 20,396ft) Mountain glaciers. The trek begins with a gradual ascent through Andean valley landscapes, arriving at Sorococcha (4,400m / 14,517ft) for lunch. Continuing for another hour, the journey reaches Apacheta Pass (4,650m / 15,367ft), offering breathtaking views of snowcapped peaks like Salkantay (6,277m), Humantay, Huayanay, rushing white rivers, and serene lakes. A short 35-minute hike leads to the turquoise Salkantay Lake, followed by a 2-hour descent to the campsite at Huayracmachay.
Sorococha - The Pass - Huayracmachay – Chaullay – Lucmabamba
Salkantay Trail - After a delightful breakfast, the trek descends for 3 hours towards the rural community of Chayllayand. Along the way, travelers can enjoy the lush green valleys and stunning waterfalls. Post-lunch, a 5-hour walk through the beginning of the Peruvian cloud forest reveals fruit-bearing trees, diverse flora, and birds. The journey through coffee, cacao, and fruit plantations leads to Lucmabamba, where the second night is spent (2,050m/6,767ft). Here, a relaxing tour offers a glimpse into Peru’s coffee production, allowing participants to pick, roast, grind, and brew their own coffee. This unique experience is complemented by exploring fields of tomatoes and avocados, picking fresh produce for dinner, which the trekking chef prepares.
Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes
Salkantay Trail - After the final delicious breakfast prepared by the chef, the trek continues along the ancient and remote Inca Trail for 3 hours uphill to the Puncuyoc Pass (2,700m/8,858ft). The route offers incredible views and expansive valleys with fruit plantations. The journey reaches the Llactapata Inca Ruins, located directly across from Machu Picchu, providing a strategic view of the Citadel of the Grand Machu Picchu and its surrounding mountains, Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu, and the Aobamba Canyon. A 2-hour descent leads to the hydroelectric plant, the main power source for Cusco, where lunch is served. A half-hour train ride then takes travelers to Aguas Calientes, where they will stay in a comfortable hotel.

Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu - After an early breakfast, guests leave the hotel to take a bus to the Machu Picchu ruins. Inside the citadel, a guided 2-hour tour is provided, with ample free time for further exploration, photography, and the option to climb Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain, or hike to the Sun Gate. Returning to Aguas Calientes by 12 pm, a leisurely lunch is enjoyed before departing at 4:22 pm on the Expedition train to Ollantaytambo station, followed by a private van transfer to Cusco, arriving at the hotel around 8:30 pm.
