Shortly after, we’ll begin our journey. We’ll gradually ascend over 3 hours to our lunch spot. During this part of the trek, you’ll witness the majestic Ausangate Mountain in the distance, so keep your camera ready. Nevado Ausangate - Post-lunch, we’ll embark on a two-hour uphill hike towards the Arapa Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft). Then, we’ll descend for three and a half hours to Hatun Pucacocha lake, where our camp is situated. Along the way, we’ll also admire Yanacocha Lake. You’ll be at the very base of the mighty Ausangate Mountain, and its size and beauty will leave you in awe.
Upon reaching the camp, you can help yourself to some hot chocolate or coffee, and later, dinner will be served. Afterward, it’s time to retire to your bed for a well-deserved rest.
Hatun Pucacocha - Pucacocha Pass - Anantapata - Surinecocha Camp
Vinicunca Mountain - Later, we’ll descend for an hour and a half to Anantapata, our lunch spot, for another delightful meal. Then, we’ll ascend for two hours to the Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m / 16,354 ft). From here, you’ll get a new perspective of the sacred Ausangate Mountain and the Rainbow Mountain, along with the endless Vilcanota mountain range.
We’ll then descend for an hour to Surinecocha (4,800 m / 15,748 ft), where our camp is located. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a hot drink to warm you up. Before a well-deserved night of rest, you’ll enjoy a dinner prepared by our chef and his assistant. You’ll be amazed at the culinary delights they create so high up in the mountains!
Surinecocha - Rainbow Mountain - Red Valley - Llacto - Cusco
Vinicunca Mountain - Today starts early as our trek reaches its peak. After an energizing breakfast, we’ll set out to explore the renowned Vinicunca or Rainbow Mountain. We’ll ascend for two hours to the pass at 5,100 m / 16,732 ft. From here, you’ll get a breathtaking view of the spectacular Rainbow Mountain, making you feel as though you’re in a dream, gazing at this natural wonder!
Our guide will explain the uniqueness of these mountains. The impressive array of colors is due to sedimentary layers of minerals exposed by erosion. This phenomenon can only be seen in two places worldwide: Peru and China. Take the time to connect with the energy of the mountains and enjoy this truly unique landscape.
Cusco - After ample time to take in the surreal scenery, we’ll walk for an hour to Llacto, where a tasty lunch awaits. We’ll conclude our day and epic adventure with a 3-hour drive in our private transport, dropping you off at your accommodation in Cusco.
