Amazing team, great tour! - We had amazing time in Cusco visiting Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley and, we felt very lucky to have Head Expedition team as our guides. Hector was very easy to communicate with, well organized and he arranged for us a great itinerary. We did our short Inca Trail hike with Gary from Head Expeditions team. He was fun, very friendly and passionate about the history and culture. We also visited Humantay Lake with Alex as our guide and Paul as our driver. Alex was very caring and also so knowledgeable about the plants, local animals and the culture. In summary, I highly recommend Hector and his awesome team if you visit Cusco to explore amazing Incan sites and hikes!

Most amazing tour to Machu Picchu! - We had the best time hiking to Machu Picchu with Hector as our guide. He is a great communicator, made all of the logistics very easy for us, and made the hike so fun with great stories and facts about the trail. We were unlucky to be in aguas calientes on a day when the rail workers were on strike so all trains for the next 2 days were cancelled (this of course happened completely last minute with no warning so all tour groups and tourists were scrambling to determine their plans). Hector was extremely flexible and supported us in making the right decisions for our group to get home, which included a couple hour walk to the hydroelectric plant to take a few taxis back to where our journey started. I couldn't have imagined being with a more helpful guide - we were so lucky to have Hector and we had such an amazing time even with the unexpected. Highly recommend you go on any tour with Hector and his team - you will have a great time!

"Short" Inca Trail - Hector runs a superb operation. We elected to walk the "short" Inca trail, which is not really two days on the trail, just one day, from Km 104 to the Sun Gate and down into Machu Picchu. The second day is a guided tour of Machu Picchu. Hector assigned Pepe to be our guide. The short Inca trail is somewhat technical, sometimes slippery (during Peru summer) and occasionally grueling, with a couple of steep climbs. Hikers call this a "moderate" hike, which takes a good 5 hours, with stops. Initially concerned that it was not Hector himself leading our small group (three on the trail), we immediately realized Pepe was immensely knowledgeable, capable, kind and relaxed. Pepe's knowledge of the history of the Inca, Bingham's important role in re-discovering MP, and expertise in the geology and flora of the area impressed us greatly. We called him "Professor Pepe" for his deep, academic and thoughtful understanding and ability to convey important information about MP and the Inca. We hiked at our own pace, with no pressure from Pepe. Pepe not only studied seriously the Inca history at the University, but also keeps up with the latest theories and findings, instilling a better appreciation of this phenomenal culture. We highly recommend both Pepe and Hector. The "short" Inca trail is really "all-inclusive": Hector picks you up either in the Sacred Valley (recommended, as it is at lower altitude) or Cusco and drives to the train station with tickets in hand. His price includes everything: train fare, private guided hike on the Inca trail, entrance fees (make sure to bring your passport!), bus ride from MP to AC, hotel in AC, bus ride back to MP on the second day, entrance fees on the second day, guided tour, bus back down to AC second day, train back to Sacred Valley and transport to Cusco. We might only suggest that the dinner restaurant after the hike be changed, as the food was only mediocre (but they obviously offer the Guide a free meal with gringos in tow). Back in Cusco, Hector himself guided us through Sacsayhuaman, just north of Cusco, with great detail, special places to see (including an awesome cave) and lectures as deep and interesting as Professor Pepe. We highly recommend both Hector and Professor Pepe.

2 day Inka trail hike - I can't recommend Hector highly enough! My boyfriend and I did the two day Inka trek with Hector in July and it was a highlight of our trip to Peru. We met up with Hector in his office before we started the trek. He was very helpful in explaining our itinerary and the travel options between Cusco and Ollantaytambo. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything we wanted to and helped coordinate so much for us. The hike itself was beautiful, and because Hector is so familiar with all the timing and systems, we were able to be the first ones on the trail from Km 104 so it felt like we had the whole thing to ourselves. He led us through Machu Picchu at sunrise on day 2 and had organized our tickets to hike Huyana Picchu, which was awesome. Hector is extremely down to earth, humble, funny, kind, and generous. We loved spending two days with him and hope our paths can cross again in the future!
