After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel at 06:10 am and take you to the bus station. The bus departs at 07:00 am for our beautiful journey.
- San Pedro Apostol de Andahuaylillas - The first stop is the “San Pedro de Andahuaylillas” church, also known as the “Sistine Chapel of America.” This church is one of the most stunning and beautiful examples of Andean popular religious art. It was built at the end of the 16th century, as evidenced by a mural signed by Luis de Riaño, dated 1626. The roof is almost entirely covered with Mudejar-style decoration featuring floral and fruit motifs, coated with gold leaf. After this, we drive to our second stop.
- Parque Arqueologico De Raqchi - Raqchi is located on the right bank of the Vilcanota River at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level. Its pre-Hispanic name was “Cacha” rather than “Raqchi.” Evidence suggests that Raqchi was a town with many buildings and farming terraces serving various purposes. It was likely an important “tambo” (Inca shelter) on the route to “Collasuyo.” The most significant building in this architectural complex is the “Temple of Wiraqocha,” which, according to ancient chroniclers, was built by the Inca Wiraqocha as a tribute to the Supreme God: “Apu Kon TiKi Wiraqocha.” After this visit, we drive to Sicuani for a delicious buffet lunch.
- La Raya Pass - La Raya marks the border between the regions of Cusco and Puno. It is a typical natural area of the “Puna” zone, with flora mainly consisting of “ichu” and fauna including “alpacas,” “llamas,” and vicuñas. La Raya is the highest point on the route from Puno to Cusco, situated at 4,338 meters above sea level.
- Pukara Archaeological Site - The village of Pukará is located in the Department of Puno and covers an area of approximately 6 square kilometers. It was the first urban center in the “Altiplano Lacustre,” with its influence reaching the Cusco Valley in the north and Tiahuanaco in the south. Evidence of the Pukara culture has been found on the Pacific coast in the valleys of Moquegua and Azapa (Arica, Chile), and there is also proof of its presence in the Iquique region and up to the mouth of the Loa River. Today, the museum in the town of Pukará houses a great collection of monoliths, pottery, and other artifacts from this great pre-Inca culture, displayed in five exhibition rooms. Finally, we arrive in Puno around 17:00 pm.
- Puno - Finally, we arrive in Puno around 17:00 pm. Upon your arrival in either Cusco or Puno City, our representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel (around the city center).
