We will embark on a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the town of Mollepata, where breakfast will be served and any last-minute supplies can be purchased. Following breakfast, the trip continues with a one-and-a-half-hour drive along a dirt road to the community of Soraypampa, situated at an elevation of 3,900 meters above sea level. Throughout the drive, travelers will enjoy stunning landscapes and the majestic sight of the snow-capped “Salkantay.” From Soraypampa, a 2 km hike begins. The trail is uphill and will take approximately one and a half to two hours. During the hike, participants will be treated to views of snow-capped mountains, breathtaking natural scenery, and a rich variety of flora and fauna, culminating at the “Laguna de Humantay,” located at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level.
The “Humantay Lagoon” boasts a turquoise hue due to the minerals at its base, fed by mountain glaciers, and is regarded as a natural treasure. In addition to the lagoon’s beauty, the surrounding mountain views are equally impressive. The descent back to the community of Soraypampa follows, where lunch will be served. After lunch, the return journey to Cusco begins, concluding the tour at approximately 6:30 PM, thus completing the one-day trek to the Humantay Lagoon.
