Amazing Short Inca Hike and MP Visit - The two day trip with Cristian was outstanding. He met me and my husband at the Ollantaytambo train station at 5:30am. He arranged for our overnight bag to be sent ahead and stored at a store in the Agua Calientes market which was a huge help. The train seats were on the river side of the train and facing in the right direction ensuring we had the best view. Once we got to the stop and hiked across the river to the passport check point and trail start, we were briefed on the overview of for the day and realized it would be a long day of hiking-about 9 miles. Cristian shared tons of details on the history and meaning of all of the sites and was great about motivating us on the longer and more steep sections of the trek. He also brought amazing lunches from a local restaurant in Ollantaytambo-chocolates, fruit, dessert, soup, sandwiches and water. On the subject of water, ensure that you have at least the recommended amount. Cristian will have an extra water for you but bring at least what you are told. It is a long day of hiking for sure but well worth the effort. When we finally reached the Sun Gate, it started to pour but we still enjoyed it and were able to get some long distance pictures and close ups once we reached the site. At the end of day one, Cristian jogged off and grabbed our bags and escorted us to our hotel. The next morning, we joined him at the station and rode the bus back to Machu with him. He gave an outstanding tour of the ruins, took lots of pictures and knew exactly where to take them for the best views of this amazing place. Afterwards back on the bus to Aqua Calientes with time for lunch before getting the train back to Ollantaytambo and then a private transfer on which accompanied us to our hotel in Cuzco. Amazing trip and he literally anticipated every need, dealt with every issues flawlessly and ended up as a new friend. Can't say enough good things about the trip-the complexity of the details would have been completely overwhelming and you have to used a tour company to hike the trail. The amazing vistas and history were well worth the investment and Cristian got us up and down the trail safely. Well done Cristian and Sam Travel. Would absolutely recommend and hiking poles were a great recommendation.

2 Day Trip to Scared Valley & Machu Picchu - Fantastic experience with Gover. Very well organised tour from start to finish. Picked up at hotel and explored Scared Valley before catching the train to Machu Picchu. Stayed over night before exploring Machu Picchu on day 2. Caught the train back and was dropped back off at our hotel. Gover was very informative throughout the whole trip and would highly recommended.

Machu Picchu - Excellent- The very best-knowledgeable, kind and patient. I am an older traveler and Carlos was very attentive to my needs. He helped me through every step of the rough terrain at Machu Picchu and I felt very secure in his care. He took care of every detail and answered any and all questions. I would highly recommend him as a guide as he has a special interest and expertise for his position.

Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu - Carlos Estrada was our guide and he could not have been more knowledgeable, kind or helpful. Each day he gave us clear instructions on the days activities. Each place we visited he had vast historical knowledge and answered all our constant questions. I either brought a flu from home or was battling severe altitude sickness. Carlos tried to help me get feeling better in any way he could. He tailored our plans to my slower pace while still allowing the rest of our group see all they came for. We are world travelers and he has been the best guide we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with!

Great tour (private 7D/6N) with SAM travel and amazing guide Deivid - We had a great 7D/6N private tour with SAM travel in February 2025 . We went as a family of 4 ( husband, wife, 2 year old son, and mother in law ) and toured Sacred valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco and Rainbow mountain. First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank our amazing guide, Deivid. Traveling with a 2-year-old can be unpredictable, but Deivid took care of us from start to finish, ensuring a wonderful experience. During our two days at Machu Picchu, he looked after our son and the grandma with great care, allowing my wife and me to hike Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu mountains worry-free. He thoughtfully adjusted our itinerary for better pacing and rest. We quickly grew to trust him, and he felt like part of our family —he even carried our son around Ollantaytambo like a caring uncle while we acclimated to the altitude! Everyone else we worked with at SAM Travel was highly professional. A special thanks to Junior, who managed our initial booking, quickly answered our questions, and customized our itinerary to fit our needs. We’re also grateful to Saul, the owner, for handling last-minute logistical changes and ensuring everything ran smoothly during our trip. Lastly, we appreciated the wonderful drivers who worked hard to keep our journey on track—they never disappointed! Overall, we had an incredible time in Peru, spending two days in the Sacred Valley, two days in Machu Picchu, one day at Rainbow Mountain, and one day in Cusco. We took stunning photos and created unforgettable memories. This part of the world is truly special, with its rich Inca culture, remarkable architecture, breathtaking hikes, and beautiful landscapes. None of this would have been possible without the outstanding support of Deivid, Junior, Saul, and the SAM Travel team!
