Great hike for family with teens - Incredible day. Thanks to our guide Moises, he was very knowledgeable about the geography, history as well as safety. Easy to communicate with through WhatsApp. My family (2 adults, 2 teenagers) did this in January, offseason which is also rainy season. But don’t let that deter you. While it rained/snowed at times, it was sunny and beautiful minutes later. Pack accordingly (layers) bring good boots/shoes/jackets/hats/sunscreen/sunglasses/water. You will have the opportunity to buy ponchos. This excursion provides the hiking sticks. We hiked up in the snow which made the mountains white and beautiful, but clouds came through and melted a lot of the snow. So we descended with the mountains green! Essentially two different hikes. Visibility of Rainbow mountain wasn’t great, could only see 3/7 colors. But the beauty of hike was still worth it. The altitude is tough, be sure to hydrate in advance, drink coca tea and use the agua de Florida spritzes offered, they help!

Rainbow Mountain - I had a great expirience. The trip was good organized. Good value for the money. We had a professional guide and he told us a lot of information about the mountain.

Rainbow mountain - I booked my tour the day before & it was confirmed, that’s a plus! This is not a guided tour! Once we arrived to rainbow mountain we were all on our own, you’re given sticks & a time frame to return to the bus. There’s no history of the mountain, area or people. My tour guide Willie was a nice guy but there was a language barrier. I choose an English tour & I had to ask for everything to be repeated in English since he mainly spoke Spanish & didn’t understand my questions in English. There was a communication issue between the tour guide and the company which I booked my tour with. The tour guide asked me to pay $25 soles for my ticket admission to rainbow mountain but I chose the option which stated my ticket admission was included. I was later refunded at the end of the tour but it was embarrassing in front of the group. Another group of 6 stated the same thing I said & was not required to pay upfront. Yes, round trip transportation was provided, I was picked up from my hotel & dropped off in the Plaza. I was contacted the day prior via WhatsApp about transportation. Breakfast & lunch is provided but the restaurant is filled with mosquitoes flying all over the food, tables/ chairs, be careful. Overall, rainbow mountain was magical, prepare mentally & physically for the hike.

Loved Peru not this tour group - Bus was over crowded. Not bilingual and the tour guide did not care so I didn’t understand anything. Told me in English it’s Spanish only group which was not what I booked. Thankfully my finance speaks fluent Spanish and could translate. We were not able to sit with each other because other couples sat separate for window seats. Horrible trip and very uncomfortable. I would highly recommend booking this tour with EXOTICA. Not here. All our other tours were through them and the busses were very comfortable and everything was translated.

Tour guide was a no show - Tour company never contacted me the day of the tour arrived at the meeting place and was a no show, had to go to a local travel agency and book a tour to rainbow mountain, luckily they had availability, do not book this tour, it does not exist.
