DAY 01: Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa and Humantay Lagoon.

DAY 01: Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa and Humantay Lagoon.
Salkantay Trail - We start our journey early in the morning, departing from Cusco to the village of Mollepata, arriving around 9am for breakfast. Here, you’ll find shops and restroom facilities. We then continue with a 30-minute drive to Challacancha, where we prepare our gear for the hike. Our equipment will be loaded onto horses as we begin our trek to Soraypampa at 12,631 ft (3,850 m), where we will have lunch and set up camp. You’ll have ample time to capture stunning photos of the canyon and surrounding valley. In the afternoon, after lunch, those interested can embark on a short 1.2-hour hike to the beautiful Humantay Lagoon at 4,200 m, offering a perfect opportunity for fantastic photos. Dinner and overnight stay will be at our lodge, Cabañas at Sorayapampa.
DAY 02: Soraypampa – Salcantay Pass – Wayracpunku – Chaullay – Loreta La Playa.
Salkantay Trail - After breakfast, we tackle the most challenging part of the trek, passing through Pampa Salcantay. We will hike along the left side of the Humantay glacier, adjacent to the Salcantay glacier. By noon, we reach the highest point, the Salcantay Humantay pass at 14,763 ft (4,600 m), where we can view the Salcantay glaciers. After a one-hour rest, we will have lunch at Huayracmachay. We then descend for 4 hours through the Cloud Forest to the town of Chaullay at 9,514 ft (2,900 m), arriving around 4pm. You can choose to continue hiking or take a car to our new Ecolodge Majestic in Loreta La Plata, arriving around 5pm. Dinner and overnight stay will be in geodesic domes at the lodge.
DAY 03: Loreta La Playa – Santa Teresa – Hydroelectric Central – Aguas Calientes.
Hot Springs (Aguas Calientes) - After breakfast, we visit a nearby coffee plantation to learn about coffee cultivation, harvesting, and processing, ending with a tasting session. We will pass through various plantations of crops like coca, coffee, tea, and banana. After the visit, we return to the Ecolodge for lunch. We then depart by vehicle to the Hydroelectric Power Plant (1,900 masl) for a 90-minute drive. From there, we hike along the train tracks and the Urubamba River, visiting the Intihuatana archaeological site with its ancient Inca sundial. We will also get views of Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu mountains, passing through the Cloud Forest rich in plants and orchids. In the afternoon, we arrive in Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel. Dinner will be at a tourist restaurant.
DAY 04: MACHUPICCHU TOUR - CUSCO.
Machu Picchu - After breakfast at your hotel, we take a tourist bus to Machu Picchu. You will enjoy a 3-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, exploring its rich history and famous sites like the Temple of the Sun, the central plaza, and the stepped terraces. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take iconic photos from the panoramic viewpoint. After the guided tour, you’ll have time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. Once you regroup with your guide, we take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch at a local restaurant. We then board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where private transportation will take you on a 2-hour drive back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 6:30pm.
