Highly recommended - I highly recommend this private tour! The drive was comfortable, and the views as we ascended to the mountain were jaw-dropping. The hike was a bit tough, especially with the altitude, but our guide provided helpful tips to make it easier. When we finally arrived at Rainbow Mountain, the colors of the earth beneath the vast sky were like something out of a dream. The Red Valley was an added bonus, with its red and orange landscape offering a stark contrast to the vibrant Rainbow Mountain. This tour was well worth the effort, and having it be private made it that much more special.

An incredible time - From start to finish, this tour was amazing. The hike to Rainbow Mountain was challenging but totally worth it. The landscapes were otherworldly. The added Red Valley extension was a fantastic choice, It felt like we were in a completely different world. The colors and vastness of the valley were awe-inspiring. Our guide was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging, especially when we were adjusting to the altitude

A Spectacular Adventure - The day began with a scenic drive through the Peruvian highlands, which were stunning in their own right. Once we reached the trailhead, our guide helped us adjust to the altitude, and we began our hike to the colorful peaks. The valley’s beauty was even more dramatic than expected, offering incredible photo opportunities.

A great adventure - From start to finish, every detail was meticulously planned. Our guide shared fascinating insights about the geological history of the area, which made the challenging trek more rewarding. The striking contrast between the deep reds of the valley and the vivid hues of the mountain left me speechless, a true testament to nature’s beauty.

Stunning landscapes - Our guide, Robinson, was absolutely fantastic and made our trip truly memorable. Our driver Edwardo was also very nice and accommodating. We found that booking a private tour was well worth the extra cost compared to the standard, more affordable options, especially since we highly value time and flexibility. We were able to leave around 4:45 AM after waking up a bit late, and there was no waiting around for anyone. Thanks to this personalised experience, we were back at our hotel by 3 PM, feeling satisfied and fulfilled.

Great hike, not easy but the experience was perfect! - Excellent trip. The information provided before the trip was very useful and should be followed. Wally was always available for any question before, during and even after. Very helpful during the hike. Personally I would definitely come back and hike with him. The breakfast and lunch were very good and was including Peruvian specialities.

Breathtaking - All I can say is what an experience, from minute one Wally was excellent, he outlined the plans for the day so the group knew what was expected and everything went so smoothly. Wally’s energy, experience and enthusiasm made this trip even more special, so I can’t thank him enough. He also spoke English and espanyol (obviously) which helped me massively being from the UK. The mountain it’s self is a special place and I would highly recommend doing this trip with Wally! Thanks again amigo adios.

No Need For a Private Tour to Rainbow Mountain - Visiting the Rainbow Mountain is really just a hike, and neither the hike nor the long drive are the type of outing that benefits from a private tour. You are likely better off booking a group one. Additionally, while both our driver and guide were friendly, their English was very limited, meaning that there really wasn't much insight provided. The drive to Rainbow Mountain does not feel safe. You are high up on unpaved/barely paved roads, clinging to sides of mountains for much of it. Moreover, I don't think our driver was driving on these roads or taking these turns at a safe speed. At one point, we tried to pass a tour bus on one of these narrow, unpaved roads, to which I had to very firmly ask that he not, and just let the tour bus (which was going at an acceptable speed given the safety of the road) be. While he initially backed off, he then sped past the tour bus anyway. I don't think he or the guide understood enough English to grasp what I was asking, as the guide thought I was complaining about altitude headaches. Re the hike itself, while my partner was fine, the high elevation (higher than Cusco) really affected me, making even slight inclines of the hike very strenuous. The scenery is beautiful, even if most of the online pictures are edited/saturated. Just make sure to wear layers. It's especially cold on the final ascent. Also, the restaurant after the hike is a somewhat rundown small town in the middle of nowhere, and it's just a buffet that other larger tour groups will also be at. I would have expected an actual sit-down place given that it was a private tour.
