Buffalo rock! - Our amazing guide Rose knew the park as well as the animals, where to find them in numbers and at the perfect time of day. Buffalo, elk, free-range donkeys ... even the coyotes and marmots co-operated. The degree of difficulty for the hikes was up to us and Rose, an avid walker herself, catered them to our ability. She also had some surprise stops that highlight the region's amazing geological features, which were a perfect sidebar to both the magnificent creatures we encountered and the rich history of the native population, Custer and his original expedition. A bonus was visiting a couple of lodges in the park, including Calvin Coolidge's 'summer White House'.

Best decision we made!!! - It was the best decision we made to take the tour with Mike and Black Hills Adventure Tours. We felt we would miss out if we did it ourselves and boy were we right. It was so informative and fun. Thank you Mike, you made the trip even more amazing !!

Mount Rushmore newbies! - Purchasing this tour was the Best thing we could have done, especially since we had no idea where to start with our first trip out to Mt. Rushmore! Our guide, Mark Barker, was extremely knowledgeable of the area and accommodated our needs for hiking and the Safari. Highly recommend Mark as a guide for any adventure! We will be back!

MT Rushmore SD tour - This was one of the greatest tours we have ever had. Our tour guide Rose was the absolute best. We felt like family !! She was so knowledgeable and pretty much showed us everything we could have wanted to see. We also did a day of horseback riding with her. I would hands down recommend this tour Company and ask for Rose !!

Great Hiking and Knowledgeable Tour - You can pick the level of hiking you are capable of and the guide will custom adjust your experience. The hike we chose was challenging and absolutely beautiful. There is no way we would have found the path we took on our own. The entire trip there was filled with the guide’s expertise on the history of the area, the science behind the rock and lake formations, and facts about the layout of the land, indigenous peoples, and local flora. Our guide was James (Jamie) Mcsherry and he was first class. He lives in the area and brought his love of the land and hiking to every second of the tour. Thank you for showing us a great time!

Ask for Tim to be your Guide - We took a private all day tour of the area around Mt. Rushmore including a jeep tour of Custer State Park. Our Guide, Tim took us on a hike in the park for about 3 miles, including the Cathedral Spires Trail. Viewed the unfinished Crazy Horse monument, drove through beautiful sections of the Black Hills and were treated to lunch at a nice local restaurant in Custer. After lunch we took the jeep tour of the park through the bison habitat, prairie dog meadows and some off-roading for spectacular views. Our Jeep driver, Dave, was very good at getting us to the wildlife, and very knowledgeable. Tim then finished the tour with a drive through the three Black Hills tunnels that open up with direct views of Mt. Rushmore. He then recommended some side trips for the rest of our stay in the Black Hills. Probably would have missed the Badlands if not for his coaxing. A great tour with great guides. Tim was able to "customize" on the fly, due to a traffic mishap (overturned trailer blocking the road for about 25 minutes). We would do it again!
