The French first identified and developed Ba Na Hill in the 1920s as a refuge from the sweltering summer heat, drawn to its refreshing mountain breeze. Over recent years, local authorities have heavily invested in Ba Na, transforming many of the antiquated French villas into guesthouses and eateries, establishing forest pathways, a new access route, and even a cable car – a popular attraction among the locals who flock here to gaze at the sparkling lights of Da Nang from great heights after sunset. The daytime view, however, is equally stunning, overlooking the Hai Van Pass, Son Tra Peninsular and Marble Mountains, weather permitting. On occasions where the weather is less cooperative, you may find yourself amidst an atmospheric spectacle of mountains shrouded in fog. But even when rain parches the lower slopes, the apex may still bask in glorious sunshine.
