The bridge was inaugurated on March 29, 2013, with a construction cost of nearly VND 1.5 trillion dong (approximately US$88 million). The design was crafted by the US-based Ammann & Whitney Consulting Engineers in collaboration with the Louis Berger Group. Construction was executed by Company No. 508, a subsidiary of Civil Construction Engineering Corporation No.5, along with Bridge Company No. 75.
The main span was finalized on October 26, 2011, and the bridge was officially opened on March 29, 2013, marking the 38th anniversary of Danang City’s liberation. This contemporary bridge crosses the Han River at the Le Dinh Duong/Bach Dang traffic circle, offering the most direct road connection from Danang International Airport to the city’s main roads, as well as a more straightforward route to My Khe Beach and Non Nuoc Beach on the city’s eastern side. The bridge is uniquely designed to resemble a dragon and is capable of breathing fire and water.
