HOI AN - Situated alongside the charming Thu Bon River, in the heart of Quang Nam province and 30 kilometers south of Da Nang, the ancient town of Hoi An is a mesmerizing sample of Eastern oriental allure. Unreal eating experience - The food was amazing I would go again just for the restaurant feed. Walking around Hoi An old town in the evening is stunning too!

Hoi Ann with Tim guide - We went with the family and Tim was our guide. The tour started at a large sculpture and jewelry store at very good prices. Then we continued to Hoi An and we started by eating local dishes which were all very good! We had more than enough in terms of quantity and variety. Then 1.5 hrs to shop at the night market. Really crowded but very large in terms of area.

Another FABULOUS and FUN adventure! - Traveling to a place and culture that's so different from where I've grown up, you can only hope that your guide has the desire and ability to connect and make your visit truly special. From the moment my wife and I met Vu, we were treated like gold, not just sharing stories, history and anecdotes, but also checking on us as we hiked up hillside paths, boarded boats, wandered around caves with uneven surfaces and biked through Hoi An. As a music lover, between stops, we enjoyed some car karaoke finding out what Western music he knew, singing "Hotel California" & "Englishman in NY", Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie and more! The DMZ history and stories shared made that experience more meaningful. The incense village, silk factory, Marble Mountain, bamboo boats, stopping for local coffee overlooking Danang and ample time to let us shop local crafts including a gift of local herbs after all our Vietnamese cuisine discussions. Hóa, our driver, always ready to get us back in the A/C of the car at just the right time - was ready with water whenever needed. Vu made our trip to Central Vietnam extra special - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Great tour, highly recommend! - Our tour guide was great, explained to us the history and religious aspects of Marble Mountain in a kind and friendly way. Ensured our safety throughout the journey but let us explore at our own pace. Maintained absolute professionalism even with some group members being problematic. Dinner in Hoi An was fantastic, we got severely rained on but the driver and tour guide made no big deal about being soaking wet in the car. Tour guide answered all of our questions and engaged in friendly conversation with us on the ride home. Felt very safe with the driver's skills even in the downpour rain.

Relaxing Getaway - About Marble Mountain The good : The mountain is very nice especially in the sunset view (the time when I visited it). There are many historic caves in there with the statues of lady Budha. There is even one shrine where you can pray to get love. The Pagoda provides a serene ambience to calm you after the climb. You will get to choose between stairs and elevator (for extra cost). I, personally found stairs as a better option as you can explore the scenery little by little with every ascending step rather than getting completely awestruck at once. It is not a must visit but I wouldn't say it is not recommendable. CAUTION: IF YOU ARE TAKING STAIRS, PLEASE BEWARE THAT THE STEPS ARE VERY SHORT (since they are man- made and have been preserved original). You may feel very hot, so please take a hand fan or cold water alongside. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About HOI AN The good : The ambience of the lantern lit river in night makes up a truly romantic atmosphere. Especially when I visited it had a red moon which made the scene very beautiful. There is also a complete market there for lot of goods (including GUCCI, LV, Chanelle, Prada countefiets). There were nice food stalls for both veg and non veg options. Just Ok: The boat ride is okayish and you can take up some good photos but may not find it very enjoyable if you have taken up other water rides. The Bad: Even after being a UNESCO recognised site I found that there was trash in water of Hoi An river which was a bit disappointing. The street vendors may be a bit more cheesy than what you see in rest of the vietnam but you see they are also trying to make a living, so I guess that's still understandable. 😉
