A Beautiful Sunday Morning Bike Ride - My friends and I had an amazing time! The InstaBike Dakar team is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Despite not having been on a bike in years, the team ensured we were all comfortable before we headed out. They safely guided us through the city, and we ended our day with lunch. The experience was wonderful, and we learned a lot about Senegal. I would definitely recommend booking with them!

Insta bike for life. - We had a great time with the team. It was a ride to remember. We did the city tour with detailed explanations, got really nice pictures and videos from the team to document our own experiences and had one of the best brunches in Dakar. I will definitely be doing insta bike rides again.

Gentle and interesting ride. - Gentle ride through the city. Our guide and outrider took us through quiet streets and shepherded us through the busy intersections. We felt safe, despite the crazy Dakar traffic. The tour ended with a visit to the museum of black culture. We were not expecting this, but it was very interesting and informative.

Great Overview of the City - Great views of the city and overall experience. A good workout too! Guide knows a lot about the different sites in Dakar. He also does a great job leading through traffic.

Loved the views - The bike tour It was a new and also different experience to tour Dakar Senegal by bike. We saw the sites from an almost opposite perspective. We saw new angles of buildings and got an up close and personal idea of what traveling the city was like for people without vehicles which was humbling. It was a sometimes fast paced experience, through traffic while learning how to do so in real time. I would not recommend this tour for beginner cyclists. Having said that the experience and knowledge of our guide was beneficial and I loved the adrenaline from it all.

Unique way to discover the city - The bike tour was great and Drey is a good tour guide. He knows a lot about the city. Exploring the city through the bike really gives you a unique and authentic experience. While cycling I told him it is my birthday and he even surprised me with a cake at the cafe (which is part of one of the stops). I totally recommend this bike tour. Thank you for the experience.

Beat cycling tour of Dakar - The guys were really great! Bikes were easy to use, very safe and well maintained. Had great fun on the downhills and learnt a lot on the stops and at the museum. Couldn’t recommend this enough. Their level of knowledge is really good and we were immediately made to feel at home. A great price compared to other tour options.

Don’t miss option for bicyclists! - This was fantastic! A wonderful way to experience Dakar. Drey was a terrific guide and we got to cover much more ground than on foot. It includes a visit to a fascinating museum, also with a guided tour. We are used to riding in traffic so while it took some adjusting to understand the unspoken rules of the road, I felt safe at all times with one guide riding in front of us and one behind. If you like to bike, this is a don’t miss option in Dakar.

Hang On Tightly - In a November 2025 review just before this posting (but since removed), we had a similar experience with ‘InstaBike Dakar’ in the Senegal city. Memorable for all the wrong reasons, this tour is not for the faint-hearted nor for the inexperienced bike rider. Be forewarned there are little to no bike trails in the city we rode on. Instead our young guide threaded us around and through extremely busy and fast moving traffic consisting of main roads and crowded city streets with no shoulders, riding uncomfortably close to speeding cars. Included was negotiating several chaotic rotaries (roundabouts), creating some hair-raising moments threading through hordes of aggressive car drivers and motorcyclists. The tour was not without merit, however, as our guide escorted us through some of the more interesting and economically-challenged neighborhoods, complete with goats, normally avoided by tour groups. As the previous reviewer noted, our guide was limited to rudimentary English. The guide also wasn’t sure of the tour route, repeatedly calling his company for guidance. With the exception of a couple monuments, he breezed past the sites the company listed, if we even rode by them at all, without a chance to linger. We weren’t offered visible safety vests nor was there an extra guide provided for the tail end, which would have prevented an interesting situation my wife experienced. Trailing us, she was forced to fend off a stalker attempting to steal her bike while she was walking with it. Alert locals, noticing her struggle, pounced on the offender and gave a vivid example of “instant justice.” Just when we were wrapping up the tour, a second rider from the company did join us. All in all, it was one of the more interesting, but frustrating bike tours we’ve participated, one we’ll not soon forget.

TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!! - What a disappointment!!! I do not know what excursion the numerous superlative reviews took, nor if any of them are actually real - our experience was decidedly different and infuriating. With a little glitch at where to get picked up we started off hopeful enough with a nice young man who spoke heavily accented and halting English - difficult to understand. He took us through busy traffic on side streets with much local activity on the side - that was fun, took 10 minutes, and the rest of the tour was a joke. After stopping at a gate monument ( fine ) we then spent the next 60-70 minutes biking on an extremely busy major road stopping only to find our first destination closed, the second a view of an uneventful mosque ( we have seen dozens before - nothing special about this one ) and ending at a giant memorial to something ( the young man either did not know anything about it or was unable to communicate in English ). We were then boxed off to a coffee shop on a dusty, dirty street where we waited for nearly an hour for our ride to arrive - our other choice was riding back down the same busy highway to get back! That’s it!! 2 hours riding in busy traffic, seeing nothing but the monument!! This was our 4 hour “ tour of the City of Dakar “. We saw NONE of the advertised sites!! I am not in the habit of writing bad reviews - this “tour” earned it! I truly believe this was our “ guide”s first effort - he was a nice young man but a clueless guide! Before booking this tour I would seriously recommend that you get an explanation to this post and get a complete and accurate description of your tour. Don’t accept the excuse “ heavy traffic “ - that’s why we are on bikes! For us this was a classic bait and switch and we were fleeced!
