Top tour of Goree Island and Dakar. 5* - This was a great day out to Goree island and a superb introduction to Dakar. Couldn’t recommend this tour more highly, especially with paper as my guide.

Must do tour for Goree/Dakar! Best tour guide ever! - I could not recommend a tour more highly than this one! The tour covers everything you want to see, eat, and do in Dakar and Goree island. Pape, the tour guide, is absolutely wonderful. You can see him guide Mark Wiens on YouTube if you want a taste of the tour! His knowledge of the history of the Atlantic Slave trade and Senegalese independence movement will bring you to tears as well as flames to your soul. Please do yourself a favor and book this tour when in Dakar. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me.

Superb guide & great experience of key sights in Dakar and Gorée - Our guide Pape was brilliant in every way - very fluent and eloquent, he told us a lot about history and political situation in Senegal, showed us most of the main sights in Dakar, made sure we are hydrated the entire time (including coffee!), and tour came with a driver who picked us up, dropped us off, and waited for us while we visited the sights. We also had a lunch a la carte on Gorée island. Even though the tour can be organised by yourself if on a tight budget, we found it was very insightful and highly recommended (and time efficient) to have an experienced guide show you the gems and hidden corners of everywhere you visit.

Dakar to Remember - Today I had a VIP tour of Dakar and Goree Island with Papa. I felt safe from the moment he greeted me with such a warm & welcoming smile. I saw a Catholic Church with angels that looked like me on the building. Saw the President’s House. Had a tasty lil breakfast before taking the ferry to Goree Island. We walked the whole little island before visiting the Slave house. Not only did I see it I got a history lesson. Afterwards I had an amazing lunch went shopping and finished with seeing the Remembrance monument. Thanks for taking good care of me Papa

Excellent Tour and Guide - Mr Pape was an amazing guide who gave us great education about Senegal history and culture and of Gorée island. It was a rewarding experience. Our driver was very safe and took us around the city

A Powerful Experience with a Fantastic Guide - I can not recommend this experience or this tour guide enough! Pape was friendly, knowledgeable, and lovely to spend the day with. Goree island was particularly stunning, and Pape knew all the right times to go to all the sights to avoid the crowds. We were able to tour one of the more busy locations, the Slave House, with almost nobody else around, and Pape had access to an area that we weren't allowed to go to to take incredible photos. This location was particularly powerful to visit as Black Americans, and, just like every location tied to the transatlantic slave trade we visited, you learn how it was so much more horrible than you already thought with every new piece of information. Like, you think you know, or that you at least have a pretty good idea, but there's so much more, and it's always so much worse. And it's important to know it, and this place and Pape as a guide were invaluable for learning. Every activity on the schedule was worth visiting, and having a knowledgeable, local guide to go with made a huge difference. Choose this experience!
