Dakar is beautiful - I took this excursion on October 4, 2024. My guide was Ismail (Pape). This was such a wonderful activity. Pape reached out to me prior to me arriving in Dakar and gave instructions where to meet and time. He instructed me that he couldn't be there, but had an excellent guide in Ismail. Ismail was kind, thoughtful, patient, and knowledgeable. I was first to arrive at the pickup location. Ismail waited for over two hours for others to arrive. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Senegal. We also had a lovely lunch together. We saw so much of the city and culture on this tour. Thank you Ismail and Pape.

A Superior Guide With Expertise, Personality, and a huge heart - My wife and I had the great fortune of having Pape guide us for two memorable days in Dakar. He made our trip. We couldn't image visiting Senegal without consulting him first. Beyond seemingly knowing everything and everybody, he truly has a patient, genuine, kind soul. We learned. Exceptional Tour with a Logistical Master - I wish i could give more than 5 star, because our guided tour with Pape was EXCEPTIONAL! His efficiency in pre-planning our trip, to make sure we have the best experience, was second to none. We started our day with a more than timely pick up, as Pape arrived at our hotel early so we could beat the crowd. As we arrived to Gorée Island’s Pier, Pape’s friend/broker had already bought our tickets, so no line for us, we just proceeded to the boat lounge with our tickets to wait on the next boat. As we arrived on Gorée island, Pape took us to the restaurant where we would be having lunch to pre-order our meal. Once lunchtime came, no wait for us again, our pre-ordered meals were hot and ready for us. Pape was a wealth of information and a logistical master. Throughout our guided experience, Pape provided us with facts and information, written and not written, about the African experience and Senegalese people. It was both sad and beautiful. Pape maneuvered us through crowds and around other tour groups so we could catch the perfect pictures, have time in our thoughts, digest his info and appreciate the views and beauty of Senegal. Great Tour of Dakar and Gorée Island - This was our first visit to Africa with an inspiring, informative and thoughtful full day Tour. You cannot and will not find a better Tour Guide than ours, Pape (Pa-pee) and the Tour company he represents. While you may know what you would like to see, allow this company to set up the timing for your itinerary. The timing to move effectively among the crowds and the best times to be in certain places for great photographs are all considerations they include. This Tour company has more than 29 years of experience and they showed that they have the relationships and thoughtfulness to make sure we were comfortable, had access through security points and explained the historical details of Dakar’s culture, events, locations and key persons. There were so many details that demonstrated their professionalism and experience, it’s too much to mention. I had no great personal expectations for Gorée Island because it is a tourist destination. Well, our guide provided us with quiet time, alone time and a personal experience for just the two of us that allowed me to sit and take in the spirit of my ancestors. I was able to experience Gorée and enjoy it in a practical and spiritual way. That meant a lot. The meal that was arranged was ready when we were and the history running through Gorée was a lot to take in. Pape went above and beyond. He cared about our experience and he showed us way more than the itinerary provided. He didn’t rush us and was shown much respect amongst all vendors, business owners, clerks, security and more. I was so filled, I forgot we didn’t see the Renaissance statue as yet. The full day tour was awesome! The way in which they arranged it was awesome. The timing was awesome. Our Tour Guide was awesome! The city and movement of Dakar is a challenging experience. For a quality experience, make sure you hire an experienced company with great tour guides like this one.
