8 day Unforgettable Tour - The 8 day Tour was the experience of a lifetime. Not only did we get to experience the beauty of Senegal and The Gambia, we experienced first hand the culture of Senegalese peoples. Our guide Amadou was extremely knowledgeable and made sure that we learned and experienced the culture of the people. As an African American who was a descendant of previously enslaved captured Africans, this was a transformative adventure ( I would not call it vacation because it was educational, intense and explorative). The visits to Goree Island and Kunta Kinte gave me the opportunity to “feel” the viciousness of enslavement, while the visits to small villages gave me a glimpse of the strength and beauty of my ancestors. I had a taste of the music, the art, the religions, and the food of this country. This taste left me wanting to know more and experience more. I do plan to repeat this adventure again.

Transformative, Once in a Lifetime 8 Days in Senegal - Getting to travel with Amadou Barry and Agsil Senegal Travel Tours has deeply impacted my life. Traveling with Amadou this December was not the first time I had traveled with him. When I was thinking about visiting Senegal once again, Agsil Travel was the only company that I considered. Over the years, I’ve found Amadou to be very accommodating and responsive. On these 8 days of travel, he knew all of the finest details to consider. Since we were going to spend Christmas Eve in Casamance, I know the day needed to be special so I asked Amadou how could we incorporate some of the local traditions and culture of the Diola People. Amadou contacted the Diola Cultural Center and had them join us on the beach for a magnificent Christmas Eve celebration on the beach. We also visited several of the local villages to learn about the diverse cultures. The level of attention to detail and positive relationships is what makes Amadou’s Agsil Travel really stand out. When I mentioned to Amadou that one thing we had not heard was someone playing the Kora, he contacted a local kora player. This was not just any kora player but Amadou contacted a master kora player who had come from a long tradition of master kora players. This is typical Amadou. The music was mesmerizing. I highly recommend Agsil 8 day experience to Casamance. Most people will come to Senegal and spend a few days in Dakar, but they will not experience the 8 days of traveling through diverse cultures, ethnicities and bio diversity as traveling to Casamance. We traveled through The Gambia and experienced Kunte Kinte Island (James Island) and learned about the history of enslavement. We even stopped at a monkey park and played with the monkeys. We also stopped to touch the crocodiles. We spent the night at several locations along the way to rest at beautiful hotels on the beach where we saw some of the most amazing sunsets. Along the way, we all loved spending time in Salt with its beautiful sunsets; Joal Fadiouth where we explored “Shell Island and experienced the power of religious acceptance; , Marloth Island where we road on the backs of horse drawn carriages to learn about the village and the women’s cooperative; Ker Saloum with its idyllic setting in nature; Eloubaline Island with its impluvium; and the stunning beach at Hotel Maya Resort. Every stop gave us new memories. To return to Dakar, Amadou arranged for us to experience the overnight boat. We boarded the ferry Aline Sitoe Diatta on Christmas Day, Sunday, where the dolphins escorted us along the Casamance River out to the Atlantic Ocean where we arrived around Sunset. We dined on the ship, slept and then arrived back in Dakar at 6 AM the next day where we got to experience the quiet of Dakar at Sunrise. Everyone in our group grew to love and admire Amadou for his attention to detail, care and love, and commitment to give his best. I hope I can travel again with Amadou. As an American who loved Senegal, Amadou is one of the best from any country who makes the guests in his country feel at home. If you can make this once in a lifetime journey, I hope you will with Amadou and Agsil Travel.

Exciting Eye opening Adventure - Amadou, planner, and tour guide helped me to appreciate the many people and cultures of Senegal and Gambia. He is extremely knowledgeable, has great knowledgeable, pleasant and friendly contacts in both countries. Visited the monkey park, crocodile petting, and Alex Haley Museum and Kunte Kinte Museum in The Gambia. The Sunset Hotel in Gambia is absolutely beautiful. So enjoyed Karaoke night. In Senegal visited Goree Island, the visits to the Museums and the Arts village shone bright lights of Senegalese arts and artistry. The Christmas Eve performance by the Jola people on the beach at the Maya hotel was unbelievably one of a kind treat. It lifted my soul to new heights. The gospel performance by the young people made the night truly holy and promising. The drumming and singing by the boaters on the boat to the Marloth Island was incredible. The picnic on the Saloum Delta was simply delicious. Our tour of the village on the island was engaging, fun and funny. Our visit to Shell Island, yes , an island made of shells, shows that two divergent religions can share the same space. Thank you Amadou Barry for sharing your beautiful country and Gambia with us. Your patience and flexibility with such a large group are truly remarkable.

Once in a lifetime ADVENTURE! - Amadou, Alpha and all of the guides were simply amazing. I’ve never had such an incredible experience going through the many waterways and remote places to experience the exquisite and unique culture of the Senegalese and Gambian people. The tour is filled with history and adventure. Learning about my history and traveling the same waterways that the enslaved Africans did was an exquisite and heart-wrenching once in a lifetime event. From the markets and museums in Dakar to the most rural and remote places in Casamance and Saly, this tour provides a worldview that can only be experienced on a special, curated tour by this expert group of guides and experts. Amadou - YOU ARE THE BEST🙏🏾💪🏾❤️✊🏾

8 day private tour Dakar, Casamance, & Saloum Delta - First, let me state that it is difficult to put into words the impact of this experience in my life. It has helped me gain clarity and enhance my perspective of the world. I was pushed out of my comfort zone being a city girl from Los Angeles. I had to grow, expand, & evolve and I’m so grateful!! Watching my 11yr old daughter connect, play, laugh, swim, and dance with children despite language barriers made my heart swell! She was at ease and comfortable and naturally fit in with the children of the SeneGambia region. I posted pictures of some highlights. The boat ride through the Saloum delta while listening to the drummers was amazing. You’ll see my daughter enjoying watermelon after having a pic nic lunch. While our lunch was being prepared my daughter Kayaked through the mangroves and discovered sand dollars on the shore. Monkey park was awesome. Never have we interacted with monkeys with such intimacy. Crocodile pool had me slightly nervous naturally, but the operator Moses, was very assuring. Petting a crocodile it’s some thing I will never forget as long as I live. I would highly recommend the eight day private tour. You will not regret it!
