Tourist in my own city - Two of my girlfriends from Oklahoma visited over a weekend in April and wanted to sample the food scene here in Dallas so we signed up for the West Village Food Tour. Our tour leader was Jim who worked 20+ years for the City of Dallas Planning and Preservation Department. Needless to say he was a wealth of information and was a fantastic guide. Our walk began at The Rustic for Sunday brunch samplings; then we took the historic McKinney trolley to Tacos & Tequila for more brunch samplings. From T&T we took the trolley to Baboush for fantastic Mediterranean small plates; and then wrapped up the tour with French macrons and pastries from Bisou Bisou. I cannot wait to make each of these (4) restaurants part of my weekend routine. In fact, I am having drinks this weekend at the historic Bowen House which I discovered on our walk throughout Uptown. The $60 spent on the tour was WELL WORTH it. I would do this same tour again if given the opportunity.

West Village Food Tour - Had a great time walking and tasting 4 great restaurant in West Village area. Jim, our tour advisor was cordial and knowledgeable about history of the area and Dallas in general. Our out-of-town guest was equally impressed. This is a fun activity with out-of-town visitors. Definitely worth repeating.

Waste of time and money... - Extremely disappointed by this tour. Started the tour eating cold brunch and then were taken to a CHAIN restaurant. After that we spent about 45 minutes on a trolley so that our tour guide could show us a park... Not the best way to spend a hot day. Last two spots were OK but nothing special. I would recommend that if you want to get a feel for the Dallas food scene go ahead and just look around yourself.
