Dalwhinnie Distillery - Distillery tour and tasting. Dalwhinnie Distillery, situated in the Cairngorm National Park in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, is a must-see for whisky lovers. The distillery provides a guided tour lasting about 45 minutes to an hour. Visitors can explore the production area with an expert guide, learning about the unique processes that set Dalwhinnie whiskies apart from others. The tour ends with a guided tasting of three Dalwhinnie Single Malts, each paired with handmade Scottish highland chocolates, plus a gift.
The distillery’s distinctive high-altitude location and iconic malt make it a popular tourist spot. The Dalwhinnie Tour is highly recommended, and booking in advance is necessary to avoid disappointment.
Dowans Hotel & Restaurant - Time for lunch. The Dowans Hotel in Aberlour, Speyside is renowned for its excellent lunch and dinner offerings. The menu is freshly prepared to order and features a variety of seasonal dishes, including local Scottish cuisine and pizza. The hotel boasts two restaurants: 57, which is more casual, and Spé, a fine dining restaurant open only on Friday and Saturday evenings, offering exquisite tasting menus.
The views of the Spey valley are stunning, and in the summer, outdoor seating can be a delight.
The building, over 100 years old, is maintained in excellent condition.
Glenfarclas Distillery - Distillery tour and tasting or tasting only. This fantastic family-owned distillery offers an excellent tour and tasting experience or just a few samples and a visit to the shop. We choose Glenfarclas or Glenallachie based on availability.
Glenfarclas was among the first distilleries in Scotland to open a dedicated visitor center in 1973. They continue to pride themselves on their warm welcome. They offer a range of tours to suit everyone from whisky novices to dedicated enthusiasts.
“We invite you to visit our truly independent distillery and discover our renowned Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky” - John L. S. Grant.
The GlenAllachie Distillery - Distillery tour and tasting or tasting only.
Located at the foot of Ben Rinnes, GlenAllachie Distillery is one of Speyside’s best-kept secrets. Established in 1967, its story truly began in 2017 when industry legend Billy Walker and his partners, Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson, acquired it from Pernod Ricard. 100% Scottish-owned and managed, GlenAllachie is one of the few truly independent Scotch whisky companies.
They offer excellent distillery tours and tastings, as well as standalone tastings in their charming distillery bar. A wide range of both single malts and blended whiskies are available to try.
It’s great to see production being reduced in pursuit of a higher quality product with an independent identity.
Craigellachie - Highlander Inn or the Quaich bar are both fantastic places to unwind at the end of a day of whisky touring and tasting. Stop here before your bed and breakfast or hotel stay on the first night.
Speyside and trip back to Edinburgh

Speyside is the most famous of Scotland’s whisky regions. This breath-taking region sits in a lush valley of rivers and secret glens. The region has historically been the warmest part of Scotland, and the fertile farmlands in the region are perfect for growing barley. Added to the nutrient-dense water tumbling down off the mountains, this region delivers many of the world’s best whiskies.
Our Speyside whisky tours take you through the Cairngorm National Park and return through the beautiful town of Pitlochry.
