Additional Information

The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi is one of Thailand’s most frequented water markets. Both local and foreign visitors flock to this market daily to devour the local foods, make purchases, and experience this unique Thai water market environment that has been in existence for a century. The Damnoen Saduak Canal, over which the market floats, is the most direct and longest waterway in Thailand. The canal is a creation of royal initiative, devised by King Rama IV of Thailand, with the intention to aid transportation and commerce by connecting the Mae Klong River with Chinese water routes. The construction of this massive canal, which spans 32 kilometers and consists of more than 200 offshoots, was completed during the reign of his successor, King Rama V, after over 2 years of toiling. The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market gained significant popularity during 1971-1973 when the waterway was thronged with farmers vending offerings from their boats - a traditional practice that remains in effect to this day.

Fun markets outside of Bangkok - Squeezing in as the train passed in the morning and then everyone bargaining as you float by at the floating market were my favorite parts of this excursion. The colors of the umbrellas at the floating market are so festive. And the longtail boat tour around town was fun to take as well.

Taste of Thailand - Absolute chaos from start to finish. From trying to confirm pick up time (time we were advised was 25 minutes after our driver arrived, as were other guests who had similar experience), van driver making up time by driving 80kms over the speed limit, seat spacing that suited anyone under 5', to the longtail driver that went at the speed of light. ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THE TOUR. Very tasty Thai lunch at the floating market. Highly recommended.

Super Trip - We paid the boatman a little extra to go round the village aswell as the market. In parts we went very fast which was brilliant, just like james Bond. The train market was interesting aswell

Unique - Great experience! Unique! Like most of Bangkok atractions! It is amazing this market that is located on the train lines and every time the train comes they have yo move their stalls and then back again to their Places!

Overall I’d Highly Recommend - Both tours were excellent and well worth the visit. We had sufficient time in my opinion within each location and tours were exactly as described. Highly recommend I had one complaint which has prevented me from giving 5 stars. My hotel pick-up was scheduled for 6:45 am and there were other hotel pick ups. We were warned by the tour guide that the driver would need to drive a little bit fast because it was necessary to be at the Train Market at 9 am. Going was a very stressful event because driver drove at excessively high speed. This is totally unacceptable because the tour company is well aware of the heavy traffic in Thailand and should have planned accordingly. Passengers lives should not be put at risk due to lack of proper planning.

Manic Markets - What an unbelievable experience. Never seen anything like it. Collected from our hotel and taken to the markets. Guide was helpful but English was not good but Translate apps got us through. The floating market was a little too touristy now but that is to be expected after Covid etc.

Excursion to improve - The guide arrived late, she didn't explain us much. She didn't know if we have the food included or not, they didn't give us water (all other tours we did with other companies did). The organization was terrible.

Stay away from this company - We booked this tour and they arrived late for us but always pushing us in a hurry to one shuttle to another without explaining anything to us. We had also reserved with the same company, that at the end of the tour to sent in a Taxi to the airport, and they agreed 24 hours before. At the day of the tour we did ask every guy that picked us up, the guide, and also write the person on charge about this reservation to get to the airport, and the guys of the several shuttles didn't even speak English and the tour guide said NO, that we have to take a taxi by ourselves to the airport. And the person on charge of the company did not answer our messages ( multiple.... we sent.... in the night before the tour, in the morning before the tour and during the tour) We do NOT recommend the tour, please take it with another company, when we arrived at the railroad market our guide only told us to go and see by ourselves, and be back to the bus at an specific hour..... in the railroad there where other groups of tourists accompanied by their guide explaining everything, and the same happens in the floating market.... NO ONE explains nothing, they just push and hurry you to get back at and specific hour. At the end of the tour, because we did not received any confirmation about our request for them to arrange our transportation to the airport and if it was already arrange we did try to make it by ourselves.... and in that moment the person on charge of the company starts sending us emails and whatsapp tell us they have already arrange it and paid for it. So we got the car they said they have arrange and paid; and the taxi said we have to paid the ride to the airport cause it has NOT been paid by the company. TOTAL DISSASTER. Also the person on charge of the company did have a bad treat to us as tourist and clients..... we did us bad words against us and also did also mis-wish our trip....... VERY BAD EXPERIENCE...... DO NOT US THIS COMPANIE IN BANGKOK........ we have use Viator for many years around the world and never have had such a bad experience.
