Abydos holds a prominent place in Egyptian mythology and religion. It was considered one of the holiest sites in ancient Egypt. Long day, but worth it... - I had specifically looked for a private tour for myself and was not disappointed with Hosam's recommendation. We set off very early because the journey (from El Gouna) to Abydos is very long. But in a car, this is no problem. My driver Achmed knew his job and Yasser, the tour guide, never tired of explaining everything to me. First we drove to the Mortuary Temple of Sethos I. It is located in Abydos on the western bank of the Nile, 160 km north of Luxor. It is an ancient necropolis. It existed before the first pharaohs ruled over Egypt. Princes from ancient times had chosen this holy place to find their final resting place. The greatest attraction in Abydos is the Temple of Pharaoh Sethos. Osiris, Isis and Horus, Pharaoh Sethos I, Amun, the sun god Re-Harakhte and the creator god Ptah were worshipped here. After a lunch break we drove on to Dendera, about 55 km north of Luxor. The Hathor Temple there is the most important cult site of the sky and love goddess Hathor and is still quite young. The temple was built in the classic Egyptian style by the Ptolemies and Romans. This temple was also an important religious center during some periods of Egyptian history. The entire temple complex and the surrounding landscape can be viewed from the roof of the temple. On the lower floor (basement) there are chambers that were intended for storing the temple treasures. I was overwhelmed by all of the above-mentioned sights. I did not expect such splendor in and around the temples with huge columns. Columns, walls and ceilings are richly painted and tell the story of Egypt for those who can read the signs and translate them for themselves. It was a trip that I will certainly never forget and fascinated me almost more than the trip to the pyramids last year. I can recommend this tour because the individual sites are not that crowded.

Exciting trip to Dendera and Abydos - Me and my wife have had very exciting trip to Dendera and Abydos. Despite the long journey from Hurghada we can say that it was absolutely worth it. We had a comfortable car with AC, small fridge with soft drinks and water, traditional Egyptian lunch was included as well in the price. Our guider was very kind to us with extensive Egyptian history knowledge. We will definitely return to Egypt and will definitely use the services of EGYPT TRAVEL GUIDE.

Ne surtout pas réserver - Do not make the offer more expensive than the others because the offer includes the visit to the Osireion but in the end you have to pay extra. This offer is false advertising and should be avoided so as not to be disappointed because you will not even be reimbursed or at least only €10
