Days 2.Nights Selous (Nyerere National Park)
Selous Game Reserve covers 5% of Tanzania’s total land area, approximately 54,600 sq km. It is Africa’s largest wildlife reserve and Tanzania’s most extensive protected area. Selous is home to a large number of elephants, lions, buffaloes, wild dogs, crocodiles, and hippopotamuses. The Rufiji River also hosts a variety of bird life. The reserve is named after a famous British figure, but it is now known as Nyerere National Park.
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park)
You will be picked up by a guide from Kihindo Tours and Safaris at your hotel, airport, or ferry for a safari briefing. Then, drive south to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere NP), which is approximately a five-and-a-half-hour drive from Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, you will have lunch and start with an afternoon boat safari on the Rufiji River. Overnight stay at Selous Mloka Safaris Lodge with full board.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Selous (Nyerere National Park)
After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive with packed lunch boxes in Selous Game Reserve. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a site selected by your guide. After lunch and some relaxation, continue the game drive until evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Mloka Safaris Lodge.
Day 3: Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere NP) to Dar es Salaam
Start the day with a morning walking safari. After the two-and-a-half-hour walking safari, return to your lodge for a shower and breakfast. Then, drive back to Dar es Salaam with packed lunch boxes. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight home or at your hotel/ferry to Zanzibar or Mafia Island.
