Dar es Salaam to Selous (Nyerere National Park)

Selous Game Reserve - On the first day of your safari, you’ll be picked up from your Dar es Salaam hotel or the airport and taken to the renowned Nyerere National Park, previously known as the Selous Game Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dar es Salaam is relatively close by. Upon your afternoon arrival at the resort, you’ll have lunch. After selecting either a banda or tented accommodation for your stay, embark on a boat safari on the Rufiji River in the late evening. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Selous Mapumziko Lodge.

Full Day Game Drive at Selous (Nyerere) National Park

Selous Game Reserve - Experience an incredible game drive and escape the crowds of the northern safari zone to explore the premier wildlife safari destination. Nyerere National Park (Selous), the largest national park in Africa, is larger than Switzerland. You’ll be amazed by its rich wildlife and diverse bird species. This area is home to lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, hippos, impalas, hartebeests, pythons, elands, and the world’s rarest wild dogs, a sight reserved for the very fortunate. Unlike Tanzania’s northern regions, where animals and birds are more accustomed to humans, the wildlife here is more skittish.

Selous (Nyerere) National Park to Morogoro Town

Selous Game Reserve - After breakfast, embark on a bush walking safari guided by a bushman who will share insights on animal tracks, medicinal trees, monkeys, the lifestyle of bush people, and survival skills in the wild. Following the bush walk, begin your journey to Morogoro, where you’ll see the Uluguru Mountains and beautiful landscapes along the way. Enjoy a city tour of Morogoro, a well-known agricultural hub in Tanzania. Spend the night at a hotel in Morogoro near the Uluguru Mountains.

Morogoro to Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park - After breakfast at the hotel, check out and continue your safari to Mikumi National Park. The Mikumi and Selous Game Reserves together form a unique ecosystem. Upon arrival at Mikumi National Park, start your first game drive and continue until the afternoon, with a picnic lunch included. Mikumi’s landscape is often compared to the Serengeti, featuring savannah terrain with tamarinds, baobabs, and acacias. The infrastructure in Mikumi National Park is relatively undeveloped, which has allowed the wilderness to remain pristine and natural. Spend the night at Camp Bastian.

Mikumi to Dar es Salaam

Mikumi National Park - After breakfast, visit a Maasai village for a cultural tour. Later in the afternoon, explore more of Mikumi National Park to observe wildlife before returning to Dar es Salaam.
