The Udzungwa forest operates as a water catchment region, and is the home to numerous endemic species of flora and fauna, adding to its charm. Aside from its magnificent mountain landscapes, grasslands, boulders, rivers and waterfalls, the park is also one of the few forested areas boasting a rich biological diversity, with rare plant species exclusive to the location, increasing its appeal. Among the indigenous primate species that call this park home are the Iringa red colobus monkey and the Sanje Crested Mangabey, which remained undiscovered until 1979, making them key attractions.
