Excellent - Ruby is excellent guide through the history of the house. She told us all about the people that owned the house, and answered all my questions.

Excellent experience - First time stay at the Houmas House Inn. We enjoyed our stay at the inn and had a wonderful room in one of the cottages with antique canopy bed and views of the gardens and a patio. The complementary breakfast buffet at the Dixie Cafe was perfectly executed with scrambled eggs, shrimp and grits and homemade biscuits to name a few. The gardens and the grounds were lovely to take walks and explore. The turtle bar which is in o e of the garconieres and connected to the Carriage House Restaurant was an enjoyable experience. The menu at the Carriage House Restaurant was well thought out with local dishes and excellent desserts. We will definitely be returning for another adventure.

Don’t miss this beautiful place! - This house is a must-see on your trip. My husband and I were with Viking MISSISSIPPI excursion. The house, grounds, and out houses were beautiful! Allow yourselves enough time to see the whole place. Cheryl was our tour guide through the house . She was wonderful… full of insights and stories about the people who lived there and the lifestyles of the times. She made their history “ come to life.”

Fun Tour at Houma’s House - My mom was visiting from TN and I am so glad that we chose Houma’s House for a tour. Suzanna was full of information and really made the tour a fun and enjoyable experience. She was funny, personable, and it was truly a joy to be guided through this phenomenal home by her! The home is beautiful with so much rich history! (We are dog people so we loved all the dog portraits) From the location, the grounds, the home, the history, the decor, and the staff- I cannot say enough great things about our visit to Houma’s House!

Superb - Touring the South from Scotland has been a real education and visual treat and without doubt one of the memories we will carry longest is this quite beautiful house and gardens. It provided an informed glimpse into history with many authentic interiors allied to some delightfully quirky possibly eccentric (in the nicest possible way)additions...most notably in the gardens and landscaping which are a treat to explore,a surprise around every meandering path. Having visited several plantation houses this will likely be our favourite. An imposing vision from 100m away it just continues to blow your socks off. Cannot commend our guide enough.. not sure of spelling but believe Westin(apologies but?)who was relaxed and unhurried and well informed. 5 star and superb and easily deserving of the 3 hours we spent

The plantation house tour was very well done, and made more enjoyable by the expertise of Suzanne our guide. She was very knowledgeable and funny as well. Great time!

Carriage House is a great restaurant—the rest is pretty average. - Museum: an information and collection dump. Needs a curator to organize better and provide context for some items/collections. Best part were the panels chronicling all of the plantations that used to exist. Would highly recommend turning that into a book for purchase. Carriage house: great staff and amazing food. Gardens: beautiful to walk through and decorated lovely for Christmas. These are contemporary and were not there during the plantations heyday House tour: low end of average. Major focus of the tour is pointing out the current owners collections on display in the home. Very little around the history of the home itself/the people who owned it and essentially nothing regarding the slaves that once lived there. Was decorated beautifully for Christmas though. Gift shop: Wow. It’s big. Some unique items, but mostly over priced stuff. Worth walking around just to see the outrageous items/prices on some things. As an example, they are reselling phone charging cords that are normally 3/$20 for $30 A PIECE. If you have time to kill or are looking for a great lunch/dinner…it’s worth a stop.

Beautiful House & Grounds, Avoid Cruise Ship Time Slots, Though - Interesting tour. Beautiful grounds. We visited at a very bad time. There were 5 busses of tourists from cruise ships. This really was problematic. We had a scheduled, ticketed time slot. We went to the appointed spot to meet our guide, who never showed up. They were suppose to ring a bell to alert those of us with tickets. It never happened. Eventually we went looking for a staff member and eventually got on a tour. My advice: when booking, try to avoid time slots which will be dominated by busses of tourists from cruise ships. Ask!! We also ate lunch there. They have a very nice buffet meal.
