Highlights

Darwin to Kakadu National Park

Kakadu National Park - Start your adventure by departing from Darwin and heading out to the Mary River Wetlands region onboard the Corroboree Billabong Wetland Cruise. A great opportunity to spot a huge range of Top End birdlife, not to mention some apex predators… crocodiles!
We journey on to Kakadu National Park visiting the Bowali Visitor Centre which offers a beautiful introduction to the Park’s landscape and wildlife. After some relaxation at camp, we will journey north to *Cahills Crossing on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land. We will visit one of the best-preserved collections of Aboriginal rock art in the world at Ubirr rock upon sunset. This incredibly significant site showcases many styles of rock art and allows us to climb up high for a sunset that will blow you away looking out over the Nadab Floodplain. After a big day, we head back to our cozy private camp and prepare dinner together, enjoying an evening with our fellow travellers.

Kakadu Waterfalls & Plunge Pools

Kakadu National Park - We rise and shine early on day 2 and make our way south into Kakadu NP. Today we’ll spend the day soaking up the spectacular natural beauty of the area, hiking through monsoon rainforests, and swimming in pristine plunge pools and waterfalls surrounded by steep escarpments and rocky cliffs.
We aim to visit one or more of the available waterfalls depending on the group’s physical ability to complete the hike(s). This can include any of the following: Motor Car Falls, Moline Rockhole, Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), or Jim Jim Falls.
Time permitting, we stop at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock), another indigenous rock art sites dating back over 20,000 years old. We explore the evolving social, cultural and environmental changes to the area over time before heading back to camp for dinner and a well-earned rest. Driving Distance: 420km. Hike Distance and Grading: 1km loop Grade 3, flat pathways and a gradual climb up a rock face to the vantage point on top. Requires moderate fitness and mobility.

Litchfield National Park to Darwin

Litchfield National Park - An exciting day awaits as we head out of Kakadu National Park and travel towards Litchfield National Park.
We will spend the afternoon immersed in Litchfield’s natural oasis of waterfalls, spring-fed streams and rugged sandstone escarpments. We’ll spend time in any combination of Buley Rockholes, Wangi Falls or Florence Falls for a refreshing soak in picturesque rock holes and waterfalls.

best activity in darwin! - the best way to spend time in darwin is to get out of darwin. the national parks around darwin are incredible and getting to spend two days in kakadu and one day in litchfield is incredible. our tour guide eliot was incredibly kind, relaxed, prepared, friendly, patient, and helpful. he really helped us have a great experience in all of our locations and allowed us to see some wonderful parts of these parks. i booked this tour on a whim and i’m glad i did. it is well worth the money and is definitely recommend to anyone with at least 4 days in the darwin area. not too physically depending at all.

Amazing waterfalls to swim under! - What an experience!!! We chose the safari tent option and it was great to have a little bed with sheets and pillows (although our group members who slept in the swags said it was amazing sleeping under the stars, and had a bit more air circulation). I loved how we all helped cook and clean together as it helped us get to know our fellow travellers and we really bonded with each other. Our tour guide Rachel was AMAZING!!! So chilled out and easy going and knowledgeable about the top end. She took us to some of the most amazing waterfalls you can swim under and we all had the best time!!! Highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a proper top end experience, and to meet other likeminded travellers.

A snapshot of a huge park delivered by a great guide - We had a lovely time. Stayed in a swag, and it was much more comfortable than I thought it would be. The setup at the campground was great. A varied program with a great guide. Carlos, our guide, had so much knowledge and he was really funny. He made sure everyone was looked after. We did a lot of driving, but that just shows how large the park is. A great trip with a mixed group a people.

Fantastic experience - Our tour guide Dani was fantastic. We not only saw most of the beautiful landscape the National Parks have to offer, we also learnt so much of the rich and diverse culture of the peoples who have lived there for thousands of years . A perfect blend of beauty, learning, and laughter. The camp cooks also did an amazing job of keeping us well fed and looked after.

Great opportunity to see the highlights of Kakadu - We had a great time, especially thanks to our guide Daryl for his good humour and enthusiasm. The tour was well organised, we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel and the itinerary gave us chance to see lots of Kakadu. The camping was fun and the site had good showers and a pool. There’s a fair amount of driving over the 3 days but that’s hard to avoid given Kakadu is so big!
