An eye opener into Greek & Roman Past - Janet is Dutch but living several years in Turkey & speaks fluent English & Turkish & probably a load of other languages. From the minute she collected us in her private car (as only 2 of us) she started filling us with information. On the way to Knidos she stopped off to show us ancient engravings in the rocks on the road side that indicated where the Greeks had buried their gold. Gradually as we approached Knidos she has us nicely settled into the rich history. There was the sunset photo with Rhodes in the background and then we arrived proper at the site of the ruin itself. Janet knows everyone there and a local archaeologist offered to join us but I reckon Janet had all the info anyway. She spent lots of time explaining to us in detail what the structures were used for and potentially what is yet to be unearthed. We found it fascinating. She took a great video of us with the backdrop of the ancient port. We soaked it all up. We also had the opportunity to ask Janet all about modern day Turkey. This was fascinating too. Janet is passionate about Greek & Roman history & passionate about Turkey so her enthusiasm is infectious. She was so generous with her time and herself. After the tour she kept in touch with us and when we asked her for real Turkish restaurant recommendations etc, she was straight back to us. I would have no hesitation in recommending Janet as a couple or large group tour guide. I fully intend to return to do some of the Carian way with friends & Janet.
