This series of Chinese religious sculptures and carvings dates back to the 7th century and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding artistic quality, vast number, and diverse subject matter. The sculptures illustrate Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist beliefs and are distributed across 75 protected sites in the region, with the most renowned being Baodingshan. There are over 50,000 Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian rock carvings and 100,000 characters of inscriptions scattered throughout Dazu.
