Following a visit to the monastery, the journey continues to the Jemma River, a tributary of the Nile. A walk leads to the 17th-century Portuguese Bridge, which features a stunning waterfall. Visitors can expect to encounter a variety of birds and endemic mammals, including the Gelada baboons. The return trip to Addis Ababa passes through Ethiopian rural villages, characterized by grass-roofed houses and a lush mountainous landscape.
