Go with the locals if you want to enjoy Mount Agung - I have been in Bali many times in the last 7 years. I always wanted to hike to the top of Mount Agung. I wanted the experience to be memorable, so I defined precisely my criteria to organise the hike: 1. It was a must being respectful with the locals, as Mount Agung is a very spiritual place for the Balinese people. 2. The guide had to be a local Balinese with demonstrated experience escorting people to the top. 3. I wanted the hike to be just me, no big groups, no small groups. Just me with a local guide, so I could set up the pace of the hike together with my guide. 4. The hike to the top and return had to be done in one go, no sleeping in the base camp. Decent pace. I was in good fitness to do it in 10-11 hours in total with several breaks. After a detailed research, I found Dekwar Mount Agung Trekking which provided exactly the service and requirements I was looking for. They were super helpful with everything. Got picked up from my villa, they provided food and snacks, the hike was super safe and fast (as I wanted), we arrived perfectly in time for the sunrise, we did Balinese offerings several times… it was perfect. Mount Agung sunrise journey - I've been staying in Amed watching beautiful sunsets with the mountain backdrops, Mount Agung towering above all, it's been calling to me ever since I got here. Last weekend I had the opportunity to climb it with these guys, it was absolutely amazing! They took good care of me the whole way through. I told my guide I like to go fast and he totally matched my pace. It was a long arduous journey to the top but when that sun peeked over the horizon the scene was completely divine. You're high above the clouds, breathtaking 360 views all around you, it feels like you're on another planet! When you make it back down you feel the greatest afterglow of conquering the hardest challenge on the island. Full spirit refresh. Thank you guys for the wonderful experience!

BEST HIKE EVER!! - This tour was AMAZING! First, they organized the trip for us with about 8 hours prior to pickup due to other plans changing. They had amazing food, great guides and wonderful hotel pickup! We are extremely experienced hikers and would 100% agree you need a guide for this trek. You will not regret this hike!!

It’s really about the journey/experience and not about the sunrise! - The hike was awesome. Krisna, my guide was amazing. He knew the track backwards, he was always asking after my well-being and was always positive. The track is quite challenging and I didn’t realise the importance of having a guide until the weather really closed in around us towards the summit. I highly recommend this company and Krisna as a guide.

Very good climb ! - This morning we climbed Mount Agung. It was truly incredible. Very physical but the sunrise was magical. The guides are friendly and offer you coffee or tea as well as noodles at the top
