Like a pilgrimage: utterly rewarding every step! - What priceless hours of delightful discovery! I was like a child in a toy store, aiming my free audio guide device at numbered “podcatchers” on the walls, totally captivated by this museum’s presentation of Vermeer as both keen observer of light AND emotion, each piece literally a story I learned to read thanks to these excellent exhibits. Discovering “Black Girl with Pearl” by Jenny Boot was also powerful. Thank you, Delft!

Excellent place about Vermeer - For such a small building, the space is very cleverly utilized. There are reproductions of all Vermeer's paintings in chronological order with displays, timelines, and an excellent audio guide that takes you through his life and the time period he lived in. I wish more museums used this technique. The gift shop has an extensive collection of books and souvenirs. Much better than what I saw elsewhere. Highly recommended for a visit!

Interesting Story - Although there are no actual Vermeer paintings here, they have reproductions of all the 39 painting that have survived. They are presented in the basement of the building in chronical order so you can see his style and skill increase over the year. His story is well told and interesting.

Great, I really appreciated the explanations of the works - I really liked it because for those who love Vermeer, they will be delighted. The museum is well studied, the rooms are well arranged and you have an audio guide thanks to which you can learn lots of things, up to our days when this great painter inspired fashion and other artists. Certainly there are copies but there are many gathered in the same place, very practical Entrance 12 euros. I recommend

Great small museum - Terrific small museum which gave great insight into his painting process, subject matter, symbolism in his works. We spent about an hour and a half there, visiting all three floors

A pleasant and informative starting point in delightful Delft. - Someone once looked a bit snobbish when I replied that would like to visit Delft one day. Starting at the Vermeer centre gave a very good perspective of this historic, charming, and peaceful city. I learned a lot about the paintings, subjects and life of the painters in Delft through the audio tour. I was happy to forego a visit to the megalith of Amsterdam and seek out the places where Vermeer painted his pictures. The museum gave a good overview of the life and career of Vermeer, some of the exhibits looked a little bit worn and in need of a spruce up but otherwise, it was a great place to start in Delft. The only town where a local asked if they could help me.

An opportunity for in-depth study - Vermeer's analysis of light and techniques for representing it is very interesting. Sad to discover that the vast majority of the master's works are found in the USA

Vermeer without the Vermeers - We left thinking, “This is how you do a museum on a painter when you don’t show any of his paintings”. There are reproductions of all of Vermeer’s works with interpretive signage. There are interesting comments on his use of light and color, his life, his family, his influences, etc. But no actual paintings. The English audio tour was disappointing. They are obviously not native English speakers as they mispronounce and don’t use proper grammar. That’s not a big deal, but the content they share on their narration is just strange in some cases. They ask more questions than give information or facts about. You can learn about Vermeer here, but don’t expect an extensive art experience.

No paintings, a lot of facts. - Sadly, we thought it was a museum with paintings. But it is just an information center with signs and videos about restaurations. If you read the web page they don't mention that they have paintings but they give the impression that you will meet Vermeer's work. Which you don't. Just prints that you can as well look on in a book or on internet. But it is a nice place, it is better than Googling if you are new to Vermeer.

Tickets paid via tripadvisor, obviously provided by Viator, do not work at the museum :-(... - Tickets purchased via Tripadvisor do not work when you arrive at the museum!!! Forced to buy tickets on site, and therefore pay a second time. Complaint made, it remains to be seen if Tripadvisor will reimburse me....
