Great value! - Great value, great service. It would have been great if we saw more variety of fish. But staff on and off board were extremely helpful, friendly and attentive.

Fabulous day aboard the Whale’s Tale schooner! - What an incredible day on the Whale’s Tale schooner. We were picked up at our hotel & taken to Port Deneau (extra charge given the distance from Beddara Beach). We started with a continental breakfast & bubbly as we sailed on the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean, passing many islands (including where Cast Away was filmed!) There was guitar playing & singing while aboard the sloop. We landed on the private island, snorkelled, cruised on a glass bottomed boat, swam, had a Kava ceremony, feast of Fijian food, lots of beverages, beach volleyball. The wonderful crew never stopped entertaining us! It was an amazing day! My only suggestion is that they add more seats on the beach, as the loungers were scooped up quickly & weren’t shared all day.

A great way to chill! - We shared our trip with 19 others so there was plenty of room on the schooner to enjoy the leisurely 90 sail (under power and sail) to Schooner island. A fruit breakfast was served with complimentary soft drinks and fiji beers. At schooner island (on exclusive lease to the Whales Tail ) we had the choice to snorkel or use a glass bottomed boat to see the coral reef, (sadly suffering from climate change), kayak, play volleyball just chill. Home cooked lunch was served with plenty for all. There were 8 or 9 crew who were very friendly and really helpful. Nb toilets on the boat and on the island were basic but clean. Highly recommended

Great value for money and a really good time. The rustic charm of the ship and crew might not be to everyone’s taste. - Pick up from the hotel was on time and comfortable and the check-in process was quick and easy. From previous reviews we got onboard as early as possible and secured upper deck chairs under the shade while enjoying the musical stylings of the crew! Seating on board is basic but functional and the ship is well used but well looked after. Quick briefing from the crew whilst under way and then fruits and champagne were available for breakfast. The wording in the description about visiting 4 islands is a bit squirrelly - you sail past three islands and stop at one. Honestly, there would be it be time to stop at more islands anyway so it’s not a bad thing. The bar on board was flowing freely and the crew broke out the speakers and got the atmosphere going before we arrived at Schooner Island. The island itself is beautiful - a postcard tropical desert island. Don’t forget your beach shoes because there is a lot of broken up coral in the sand which is quite sharp. We had a round of snorkelling before the Kava Ceremony. The masks and fins were pretty decent and the shoals of little zebra fish were putting on a good show. I’m sure that there are better locations for snorkelling but this one was good fun with plenty to look at. After the Kava Ceremony lunch was served - all the Australians appreciated the sausages in bread - but the locally caught fish was excellent. Basic fare but there was plenty of it and it was tasty. Again, the bar was flowing freely! Another round of snorkelling followed by some volleyball for those with some energy left before it was time to head back to the ship. Tip for young players: jumping off the boat is great fun but make sure the Captain has given the nod before taking the plunge! During the passage back to Port Denarau we were treated to music from the crew with heaps of participation from the rest of the guests. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this trip to anyone. Just remember you are not signing up for an air-conditioned luxury cruise. The Whales Tale is an old girl and a little rough around the edges but, for us at least, that added to the fun of the day!
