Laodicea - The first stop on your private tour is the Church of Laodicea, one of the seven churches of Revelation. This site holds great significance for Christians aspiring to be pilgrims. Next, visit the Grand Theatre of Laodicea, located on the northeast side of the ancient city. Originally built in the 3rd century BC as a Greek theater, it was expanded during Nero’s reign to accommodate up to 20,000 spectators, making it the second-largest amphitheater after Ephesus. Continue to the Stadium and Gymnasium of Laodicea, situated in the southwest of the city along an east-west axis. The stadium, completed in 79 AD, measures 350 meters in length and 60 meters in width, with 24 rows of seats. The Gymnasium, built in the 2nd century AD by Proconsul Antonius Gargilius and his wife Sabina, was dedicated to Emperor Hadrian.
Hierapolis & Pamukkale - Explore the National Park of Pamukkale, where you will see the Necropolis of Hierapolis, one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia with 1,200 graves, as well as the Roman Bath, Domitian Gate, Main Street, and Byzantium Gate.
Pamukkale Thermal Pools - Walk to the natural warm water terraces formed by calcium-rich running water. The water temperature is about 35°C. Marvel at the gleaming white travertine terraces of Pamukkale, located next to the ruins of Hierapolis. This extraordinary effect is created when water from the hot springs loses carbon dioxide as it flows down the slopes, leaving limestone deposits. The layers of white calcium carbonate, built up in steps on the plateau, gave the site its name, Pamukkale (cotton castle).
Cleopatra Pools - For an additional entrance fee, you can swim in the Ancient Pool, also known as Cleopatra’s Pool. Heated by hot springs and filled with underwater fragments of ancient marble columns, the pool is possibly associated with the Temple of Apollo. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to swim among antiquities. During the Roman period, columned porticoes surrounded the pool, but earthquakes toppled them into the water, where they remain today.
