Setting Sail to Nusa Penida

The allure of Nusa Penida had been calling my name for quite some time. As a digital nomad, I often find myself seeking out the hidden gems of Southeast Asia, and this island promised a blend of adventure and breathtaking landscapes. My journey began with an early morning pickup from my hotel in Nusa Dua. The driver, punctual and friendly, set the tone for what would be an unforgettable day.

Upon arrival at Sanur Harbour, I was greeted by the warm smiles of the Mangku su team. They handed me a bottle of water and briefed me on the day’s itinerary. With boat tickets in hand, I boarded the fast boat, feeling the excitement build as we sped across the Badung Strait towards Nusa Penida.

Snorkeling Adventures and Island Exploration

Once on the island, our first stop was the snorkeling location. Despite the rain that decided to join us, the experience was nothing short of exhilarating. We managed to explore three out of the four planned snorkeling spots, each offering a unique glimpse into the vibrant marine life of the region. The snorkeling team was accommodating, providing gear and capturing moments with a GoPro, which they generously shared with us later.

After a refreshing cold shower and a quick change, it was time to explore the island by land. Our driver, Pasek, was a gem. He navigated the narrow, bustling roads with ease, ensuring our comfort and safety throughout the journey. We stopped for lunch at a quaint local restaurant nestled in the jungle, where the flavors of traditional Indonesian cuisine danced on my palate.

Capturing the Beauty of Nusa Penida

The island’s beauty was undeniable, even amidst the holiday crowds. We visited three stunning locations, each offering its own unique charm. Despite the bustling atmosphere, I managed to capture some incredible shots with my drone, a must-have for any traveler looking to document their adventures.

Pasek’s knowledge of the island was invaluable, guiding us to the best spots and even snapping a few photos of us along the way. As the day drew to a close, we found ourselves caught in traffic, missing our scheduled boat back. But true to form, Pasek ensured we boarded the next available boat, accompanying us on the journey back to the mainland.

Reflecting on the day’s adventures, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the experiences and the people who made it all possible. Nusa Penida had lived up to its reputation, offering a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty. For those seeking a memorable escape, this island is a must-visit.
