DAY 2: CAPPADOCIA ✈ ISTANBUL
Goreme - Breakfast will be served at the hotel before leaving for the Goreme Valley. Turks have a legend that explains the name’s etymology as: “Gör, Emi (see it, for sure).”. This legend is not without reason, for this is the most important site of the region. The valley is home to rock churches and monasteries, dating back to the 2nd century AD and richly decorated with colorful frescoes by exiled Christians in the Roman era.
Uchisar - The wonders will then continue with the fantastic panoramic view that you will enjoy at the natural citadel of Uchisar. You will witness the poetry written through the ages on the soft volcanic rock by none other than the elements of nature. The wind and the rain have worked together to create a surreal, almost lunar landscape, a scene of pillars and cones and, of course, the unique fairy chimneys.
Zelve Open Air Museum - After having lunch at an authentic restaurant, you will take a short walk throughout Zelve - Pasabag, where you will find fascinating fairy chimneys and see the first example of a monk’s chapel.
Admission fee: 65 TRY/per person
Avanos - You will visit Avanos for traditional handicraft and pottery manufacturing by the Hittite technique and head to Devrent Valley (Fairy Valley) to look at the fairy chimneys.
At the end of your magical journey, taste delicious Cappadocian wines during a wine factory visit, then stop for a look at characteristic fairy chimneys in Urgup. Last, you will return to İstanbul and transfer to your hotel.
