History up front and Personal - John was so kind to share the history of the Troubles in Derry, most of which is deeply personal for him. A sobering and informative hour with John left us wanting to know more! Thank you John.

My favorite tour in the north of Ireland - This was my favorite tour in the north of Ireland, and I enjoyed every tour I went on. Our tour guide John had first-hand knowledge of the Troubles as a resident of the Bogside. He was greeting and hugging all kinds of people along the way. But it wasn't just his personal experience that made him a great guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and really encouraged us on the tour to ask him questions, even if they were hard questions, about The Troubles. I learned so much, and the murals were so incredible. I could not possibly recommend this tour any more highly. The tour leaves you at the Free Derry Museum, so you can go on to take in a more detailed history, which was also good.

Vivid account of the 1972 Bloody Sunday massacre - Hearing from a guide who actually experienced Bloody Sunday in 1972 was gripping. Even for someone familiar with the history, and on his second visit to the Bogside, there were revelations that conveyed the deliberate cruelty with which the protesters were confronted. As a professor of human rights, I look forward to bringing my students on the tour one day.

Romanyic - Whilst planning a romantic break with my partner, we decided to go to Derry instead of Paris. Thankfully , we made a great choice. The streets were vibrant from the moment we arrived, full of flower sellers and street performers as we walked hand in hand to the best restaurant we could imagine. We did get confused by the road signs. As the sun went down over the foyle, we wished the day could never end I couldn’t recommend Derry more.
