A must do in Derry - We would highly recommend this walking tour. It is not strenuous and there is not a lot of walking required - instead you'll spend time at several locations where your guide will pass on his first-hand experience growing up in the Bogside during the Troubles, particularly on Bloody Sunday. John unfortunately has a sad personal connection to the events of Jan 30, 1972, when his oldest brother was killed. John is engaging, informative, and friendly - and he's the perfect guide to tell the story of the Bogside.

Unforgettable - It feels wrong to say we enjoyed this tour but it was so interesting and informative. We learned a lot. John was a great guide and explains clearly and passionately how Bloody Sunday touched him personally. A highly recommended tour and one we won’t forget in a hurry.

If you only have time to do one thing in Derry, TAKE THIS TOUR. - If you’ve the chance to be in or near Derry, take the time to participate in this tour. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a rare opportunity to walk the streets of such a relatively recent historic tragic event with a surviving family member who lived through the events of the entire era and its aftermath, some of which are not yet finished . This is real life and real history, not some canned tourist trap tour. John is a first-rate guy and tells the story and background very intelligently. Plus he can answer any question and help provide necessary nuance to things you may think you already know. I consider myself fortunate to have met him and to have had the opportunity to listen to and converse with him. Very memorable.

As authentic as it gets - John gives a first hand account of Bloody Sunday. He was 8 when his brother was shot dead that day. An enthralling account of the terrible events of the day. Don’t miss this.

Very interesting but very biased - Our tour guide Noel was indeed very well versed about the history of the bloody Sunday events as he was himself a 17-year-old participant in the riots and remains severely scarred from his experiences as he saw them. He imparts those memories with deeply held emotions, expressed by much ill feeling towards the British activities leading up to the events; during the events themselves and since. Nevertheless, despite his impartiality the tour is very interesting and perhaps his one-sided view invites others to adopt a more impartial analysis.
