- Baitul Mukarram Mosque - As the national mosque of Bangladesh, Baitul Mukarram can accommodate 30,000 worshippers, making it the 10th largest mosque in the world. It features modern architectural elements while preserving traditional Mughal architectural principles, which have long been influential in the Indian subcontinent.
- Sadarghat - Enjoy an hour-long boat ride on the Buriganga River at Sadarghat.
- Ahsan Manzil - Located along the Buriganga River in Kumartoli, this palace was the official residence of the Nawab of Dhaka. After independence, the Nawab’s descendants could not maintain it. Built between 1859-1872, it showcases Indo-Saracenic architecture. Originally constructed by Sheikh Enayat Ullah during the Mughal era, it was later sold to French traders. Today, it serves as a national museum with a rich history.
- Star Mosque (Tara Masjid) - Situated on Abdul Khairat Road in Armanitola, Old Dhaka, the Star Mosque lacks a dated inscription. It is known that Mirza Golam Pir, whose ancestors settled in Armanitola, built it. Mirza Golam Pir died in 1860, suggesting the mosque was constructed in the first half of the 19th century.
- Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection - Evidence points to an Armenian community in the region during the 17th and 18th centuries. Built in 1781 on Armenian Street in Armanitola, the church stands on what was once an Armenian graveyard. Agaminus Catachik donated the land, and Michel Cerkess, Okotavata Setoor Sevorg, Aga Amnius, and Merkers Poges helped build it. Mother Teresa stayed here during a visit to Dhaka.
- Lalbag Fort - Also known as Fort Aurangabad, this incomplete 17th-century Mughal fort complex stands near the Buriganga River in southwestern Dhaka. Construction began in 1678 AD by Mughal Subahdar Muhammad Azam Shah, son of Emperor Aurangzeb. His successor, Shaista Khan, did not continue the work, despite staying in Dhaka until 1688.
- Dhakeshwari Temple - Meaning ‘Goddess of Dhaka,’ Dhakeshwari is the main Hindu temple in Bangladesh. In 1966, it was renamed Dhakeshwari Jatiya Mandir following a campaign by Bangladeshi Hindu groups for official recognition after Islam was declared the state religion in 1988. It is state-owned, making it Bangladesh’s National Temple. Legend says it was built in the 12th century by King Ballal Sen of the Sena dynasty.
- Shahid Minar - This monument commemorates the martyrs of the language movement who were killed on 21 February 1952. A memorial was erected on 23 February 1952, shortly after the killings.
- Curzon Hall - Located in Dhaka, Curzon Hall has a rich history and played a significant role in many political battles. It is now an integral part of the University of Dhaka’s School of Science.
