Dharamsala is located in the Himachal Pradesh state of Northern India. It is set on a spur of the Dhauladhar range in the Pir Panjal region of the Outer Himalayas and offers breathtaking views of the formidable Dhauladhar ranges above as well as the Kangra Valley below. The city is often referred to as ‘Little Lhasa’ because of its considerable Tibetan population. The headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile is located in McLeod Gan and our journey starts in Dharamsala, the place where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Community’s center exist, right in the midst of the globe’s highest mountain range. Our 5-day trek leads us through the Kingdom of Gaddi, a semi-nomadic group that spends months roaming the high passes with their cattle, with stunning vistas of the Dhauladhar Mountain Range.
