This is a SCAM - do not book. - It's true - even seasoned travelers can get scammed. After sharing this profile with our driver, they coordinated a meet-up point to take us (3) to the start of our coffee tour. As a background, we have done three different tours in three countries so you can imagine we know what to expect from a coffee tour. Unfortunately, Freek Holidays or whoever runs this account are a wannabe tour provider with zero to limited experience in tourism. First flag: they were late to our meeting point to follow them to the start of the tour at a coffee shop called DLDB Mahaberiyathenna. Second flag: they stopped 20 yards from the coffee shop to charge us the full amount so the coffee expert and others did not see how much he was charging us (Tip: ALWAYS ASK FOR A RECEIPT). I didn't book the trip, so I was shocked to hear when they said $79 per person! My spouse knew the price, so he was expecting an exquisite experience. We arrive and order coffee, then eventually start the tour - with a knowledgeable person who works in agriculture for the government. We walk around the field with two men nonstop, taking pictures or videos of us. We basically paid to be their models, and although I expressed that I did not consent to my photos being taken, they kept taking photos. Afterwards, we drove to a government agriculture training (which we had to drive ourselves - this was not included) centre where they made us wait to eat in a run-down facility (dark, limited ventilation, and holes in the ceiling) to eat in the trainee canteen area. Then, the coffee expert came back with a bag of coffee for us, which made us excited to finally get to learn about the coffee process, beyond the plants. Third flag: He made us pay $15 for coffee beans and then said we had to go back to the cafe to pay for the two coffees we drank at the start (maybe $3-4). This is when we finally put all our flags together, and it hit us, there was going to be no tasting, no $237 experience, and this was a scam. We literally paid to be their models, walk in the forest, and eat a $10 meal. The whole experience in itself for us three was worth $70 at best. We now joke that we paid $252 for a coffee bag!
