History and wine paired together - We have done many wine tours in Napa, so I was expecting a similar experience. But we were fascinated to learn about the history of winemaking in Burgundy, starting with the Romans, the monks, the French Revolution which has resulted in hundreds of small vineyards. Ann, our tour guide, also did a great job in explaining how wines are labeled - village, vineyard, cru - and we finished the day with a fantastic tasting.

Great tour guide, Antonin - Our tour guide, Antonin, was wonderful! He spoke English and was very knowledgable on wine, he is a WSET Diploma graduate, and the Cote d'Nuits region. He was also making sure that tour participants were comfortable and answered any and all questions. We highly recommend this tour. It was our favorite day of the week we spent in Paris.

Well organised, fun and informative tour - Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. He was renamed 'Grandpa Burgundy' during our trip. The tour was exceptional, with a well thought out history and background to the winemaking region, ahead of the tastings. I would absolutely recommend this.

Beautiful country, fascinating history, delicious wines! - This was a great tour through the Grand Cru region of Burgundy. Our guide, Lorenzo, was very knowledgeable, interesting and funny. The van was comfortable. The wine tasting was wonderful and the cellars underneath were quite amazing.

Tastings of different grades of Burgundy wine - For this tour, we visited one cellar door and had six tastings of the different grades of wine made in this region, as well as touring the Cote de Nuit region and stopping to view several vineyards including the special Clos vineyards. The cellar door winery was amazing, set in a very old historic building with cellars in underground caves that had very eclectic entertaining areas. This in itself was worth the visit.

Different from what we expected based upon the description. - Our guide was knowledgeable. However, the description should say that first you travel 60-90 minutes and that you don’t actually stop and explore any towns.

terrible experience - My husband and I had a very bad experience which did not live up to the reviews I’ve seen. I wouldn’t have come if I had known that the guide would spend most of the time speaking French despite there being only 2 French speakers out of a group of 8. The rest of the group were bored standing around listening to the back and forth in French. I think the mix language arrangement is a terrible idea. We weren’t given enough time to walk around in the Chateau du Clos de Vougeot, and were not given much information about what we saw (or maybe he did in French). In general, the guide offered very basic knowlege about wine. We were at the meeting point 5 minutes before the tour started, as requested, but the guide himself was late. We spent some time anxiously wandering around to see if there were any sign for Authentica Tours - there were none. After the tour ended, Authentica Tour sent me a request for review, which I replied with my complaint. I was surprised to find no response from them. I suspect they didn’t read my message. On the whole, a terrible experience.
