Embark on a short, enjoyable journey through the countryside from Chiang Mai Province to the neighbouring Lamphun Province, the former Haripunchai Kingdom. The capitol of Lamphun, also one of Thailand’s most ancient cities, traces its origins back to the 8th Century, even predating Chiang Mai by a few hundred years.
This exploration takes you to two of the most exquisite and historically important temples in northern Thailand.
The first one - WAT PHRA THAT HARIPUNCHAI, hails from the 12th century, featuring two stunning old chedis fashioned in the original Haripunchai style.
The second one - WAT CHAMADEVI, can be traced back to at least the 10th century.
The itinerary also includes a visit to the local marketplace before we return to Chiang Mai.
