Transporting and unique experience! - Our trip into the rural, mountainous Yunnan province on the border of Tibet was transporting and transformative. Tibetan cuture, ethnic group, temples abound in this region, along with four other ethnic groups. Very rural and largely unspoiled although the Unesco heritage site of Lijan is quite commercialized, it's still worth seeing. The tour is terrific -- personable, local guides with great English attend to you well. The hiking and climbing can be taxing, given the high altitude. Advise taking altitude sickness medication in advance. But well worth it! This is a trip I will remember for years to come. VERY different from the rest of China, filled with history, nature and religious tradition.
