Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater) - Your local street food guide will pick you up at your hotel, apartment, or Airbnb by Taxi or Grab car, or you can meet at the Ho Chi Minh Opera House. From there, we’ll leave the tourist area behind and embark on a culinary adventure to a street food haven.
This tour is easy-going, fun, family-friendly, and suitable for everyone! The menu may vary depending on the day, time, and availability of local food stalls. -
Nguyen Thien Thuat Apartment Buildings - We begin at Chuoi nep nuong Vo Van Tan in District 3, one of the city’s most unique areas. This vendor, located on a small street corner, has been serving a mixed Vietnamese-Cambodian dish called “Chuoi Nep Nuong” or “Banana Grilled with Sticky Rice” for over forty years.
Next, we’ll explore the heart of District 3 and visit the Nguyen Thien Thuat Apartment Buildings Area, home to numerous famous Vietnamese street foods. Here, you’ll try the original Bun Bo Hue, a unique recipe that takes about 8-10 hours to create a rich broth with beef slices, pork sausage, vibrant onion, and spicy coriander. This food stop is run by a local with over 25 years of experience from Hue (central Vietnam).
Then, we’ll stroll along a street known for its barbecue seafood vendors and head to a local favorite restaurant to taste the best “Bò Lá Lốt” (Beef in Wild Betel Leaves). -
Ho Thi Ky Flower Market - This street food paradise offers a chance to watch “Bánh Xèo” and “Bánh Khọt” being made right in front of you. Originating from the Mekong Delta in western Vietnam, “Banh Xeo” gets its name from the sizzling sound it makes when cooked on a hot pan.
Next, we’ll stroll and try Bo Nuong Sa– BBQ grilled pork wrapped in lemongrass, followed by a traditional Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich and a refreshing sugar cane drink.
Our food adventure continues with a visit to the Khmer market near Ho Thi Ky, where you’ll sit like the locals and enjoy Vietnamese pizza (a student favorite). Relax with a Saigon beer (or jasmine tea) and listen to your student guides share their local life stories. -
Chinatown (Cho Lon) - District 5 - Our final stop is Che Mam Khanh Vy, known for Vietnamese Sweet Soup. The owner has 45 years of experience selling traditional Che in Saigon. It’s located under an old apartment in District 10, part of Chinatown.
-
Ho Chi Minh City - The journey concludes here. We’ll ensure your final moments are memorable before a taxi ride back to your hotel or drop-off spot (within Districts 1, 3, & 4). Looking forward to your next trip! Love you!
